REBELS SEASON THREE TRAILER SPOILERRIFFIC!!!!

Please no. Cloning was the worst part of all Zahn's books in which it appeared.

Really? I liked Timothy Zahn's portrayal of the Clone Wars FAR better than the prequels' version (though I admit the naming convention was a bit...odd).

It was ham-fisted and barely tied into the novels, until the quickly thrown together final confrontation, which also felt more awkward than anything.

No, cloning was definitely the series' weakpoint.

I do NOT think the prequels did cloning any better, though.

I think Luke fighting Luuke made out of his lost hand was stupid not just because of the naming conventions. But maybe that's just me :P

Oh, yeah...forgot about that part. Guess it's about time to reread the series!

Then again, what do you do when you find someone's hand? Making an evil, insane clone of them seems about the only option at that point, really.

Wow. From looking stuff up on Wookieepedia, apparently I'm misremembering a LOT! I could have sworn quick-grown clones were responsible for the insanity that doomed that Katana fleet, but apparently it was just your ordinary, everyday hive virus! Suddenly, I'm cooling off on the whole "clone" thing, myself...

I'm told that the extra U is because "when you're cloned, that means there's another "you" around".

Would that make it the first case of true 1st-person plural?!

Excited for this, but Thrawn will be ruined. The Rebels have to beat him because theyre the protagonists, but going by the books they really dont have the skill.

It wasn't that the clone was grown out of Luke's lost hands. It's that his hand was recovered and DNA was taken from it. It's by far the most obvious way a clone of Luke could come into existence, after all. Not as if the Empire had ever taken a blood sample from him.

They don't have to beat Thrawn, they just have to escape. Or not, if Thrawn is still in the show at the point where Kanan has to die because "no more Jedi".

Or, Thrawn could be thwarted by the Imperial system. Another officer refuses to aid him in his plan, or someone else's mistake gets blamed on him...something like that.

Or the Emperor finds a more important job for him and sends him into the unknown regions or somewhere.

Or maybe Thrawn gets killed by his bodyguard. Or Kallus.

I wouldn't be worried, Filoni has shown with Tarkin and Vader that he knows how to handle bad guys of this scale.

There is also, of course, the Xanatos Gambit trope.

Thrawn's big debut had him spend the majority of the books being outwitted. He had to keep falling back on increasingly more insane gambits. He was scary because he called the "they would never think we are stupid enough to go with such a bad plan" bluff.

What? You don't want a Sooontier Fel?

Soountir Fel.

A brilliant strategist like Thrawn killed by his own bodyguard? Pfft! No one would buy that!

Something that was missing from the trailer.....Agent Kallus.....or was he? I had a crazy thought that he is the mysterious voice that was telling our intrepid band of heroes about the imperial cadets wanting to defect to the rebellion. He's had his faith in the Empire shaken by the events of the episode The Honorable Ones and this could be his path to redemption.

The Fel clones didn't use that naming scheme.

Why was that so awesome? Goddamn that was awesome.

I'm pumped, are you pumped? I'm pumped, that's for sure!

We're all pumped mate!

It is also Thrawn. If anyone is worthy of the "Xanatos Gambit" trope, it is him.

Besides Xanatos obviously.

My son was in a bad mood last night due to forces beyond his control. I cheered him up by showing him the Season 3 Rebels trailer. It worked! Then he wanted me to explain who Thrawn was again as he fell asleep.

Remember, kids: you don't study art so that you can vomit paint onto a dairy cow and call it a masterpiece. You study art so that you can become the most brilliant, most feared military mind the galaxy has ever seen!

That's not how one talks to children.

Study art so you can crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the lamentations of their women!
