How is everyone feeling about the Rogue One characters? Is Disney doing a one-shot on this? Or are the principals going to survive for Rogue Two?
And what's the over/under that Jyn Erso is Rey's mum?

While I don't doubt that there will be subsequent Jyn Erso stories, the direct sequel to Rogue One is A New Hope. I feel that Erso has a strong possibility of showing up in all kinds of other Star Wars down the road, unless they kill her at the end of R1.
Also, Rey's mum is Jar-Jar Binks, who is actually Snoke who just wants revenge on Armitage Hux's cat, Millicent for cutting him out of the Death Star ice cream social.
I didnt know George Lucas had a hand in writing this *L*
I think she's likely to die. One of the producers was comparing her to joan of arc, and we all know how that went...

Oh wait that was Ark.
Edited by CyberEye MagPiI would imagine Rogue One will have a very high death toll for the Rebels. Especially since Vader is going to be involved.

Unless she just ended up on some kind of island with dinosaurs and giant bugs. Joan of Arc: Survival Evolved. That'd be a helluvah story.
Much is made of how these one-offs free them up in ways of story telling; by using self contained movies they can explore different movie styles. So now you get a Star Wars Dirty Dozen, but they've also got room for a heist-movie, straight up rom-com, thrillers, everything that won't really work in a trilogy mode. If you look at comparable trilogies, Alien and Terminator, you see that the first and second movies wildly differ in style and feel and now that is possible for SW too.
Mesa muy bombad happy!
I happen to think they'll take a page from popular TV shows like Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. We are going to fall in love with the characters ... and then they're going to get killed off.
It's all the rage now, just like gluten free deconstructed rustic cheesecake made on almond milk and coconut water, all served on an enormous plate with some handpicked wild blueberry jus dribbled around the edges.
But on a serious note, yes, I predict most will die. It's why the superhero movies are getting boring for some people. Whatever hazard or fiend is presented, we know a city will get destroyed and the hero will overcome the challenge .. and probably get a girl along the way.
That is why there's no sequel.
