New Rogue One ship spotted

By patox, in X-Wing

Well, it's prettier than the Gunboat; huehuehuehuehuehue.

Just kidding. Looks like it was made out of aluminium in a scrapyard.

If the game ever gets a Disney series shuttle, I'd rather see the Upsilon Class than this.

Agreed, the Upsilon class is pretty awesome looking. Of course, the way it appears in the movie, swooping down menacingly, also helps it look good. I imagine that with the right cinematography (maybe coming down and dropping AT-ATs, if our suspicions are correct), might make it look better than the image we're seeing here.

EDIT: I may be mistaken about it being an AT-AT barge. Over at Geek.com ( here ) it's being called this:

“With its starkly geometric hull shape and folding bat-like wings, the approach of the Delta class T3c shuttle is an imposing sight. Once it lands and deploys its passengers – the cruel Director Krennic and his squad of elite troopers, all sense of dread proves extremely warranted.”

And we thought Kylo Ren's shuttle looked ridiculous...

Where have all the good sci fi starship designers gone?

They've all died of old age. These darn kids just can't get it right because they watched too much teevee, or drugs, or video games or something.

Get off my lawn.

Its incredibly intimidating profile and rugged utility fights Kylo Ren perfectly. It doesn't look ridiculous.

It's made for the character specifically.

Maybe it's actually in scale to that Death Star in the background...

That sorta makes sense: Kylo Ren was also ridiculous.

I am confused when people complain new ships in star wars are ugly. Almost all the original trillogy ships were ugly and had no realism in there designs just look that the tie fighter (without your nostalgia glasses on) it's ugly and stupid for a spaceship.

If you had made ships for the new movies sleak and pretty you same idiots would be screaming about how un-starwars they were or how they are "to much like the prequel ships"

As for this ship, star wars us all about giant wings and gawdy designs with stupid **** sticking out for no reason. I like it!

A TIE Fighter is ugly and stupid for a space ship? Why?

If you want to add a touch of realism, there is a purpose to wings in space. See, when a ship wants to turn or rotate, it needs to apply some kind of rotational force. And the further that force is applied from the center of gravity of the ship, the more effective it is at rotating the ship. There's the argument that a wing would increase a ships moment of inertia, but I'm just assuming that people who've master faster than light space travel can come up with some strong, light weight composite materials. Second, those big dumb looking panels on a TIE Fighter have from day one been known to be solar panels. Because the TIE Fighter is made to be cheap and light, the solar panels supplement the undersized power supply of the ship. So they are actually kind of an elegant solution to bolster the power supply and to create an increased radius for rotational maneuvering thrusters. Two birds with one stone.

I feel like the new ships suffer from "It's gotta be different" syndrome.

Not a fan of this ship, but :

My least favourite ship in game right now is the Outrider, because its design with the Cockpit so drastically far from the center of gravity bothered me so much.

your explanation solves that for me.

Thanks :P

I'm not a fan of how the YT-2400's cockpit is so far off center (especially since there was no reason for separating the cockpit and escape pod section with struts instead of mounting it right up against the side of the saucer), but at least it doesn't have the engines way off the center of mass like the Jumpmaster.

Two possible scales.
The bottom Gozanti matches the side windows at 11 pixels,
The top Gozanti leaves it at 6 pixels. I'm of the hope that it is the later
and windows are of the command ship ceiling to floor type.
The thing is supposed to carry Krennic and his army after all.
Never mind, it says "squad" so it might not carry an army,
but on the other hand if I scaled a Lambda window then it would be MASSIVE.

Is it hard being so wrong?

Kylo Ren is chit galore on wings, some people love him for his "acting",

Some people hate his tantrum-whiney-nerd-teenager-wannabee-sithlord-antics..

Yea..

Sure Kylo Ren is a great character if you listen to my chemical romance and you take Anakin Skywalker seriously.

For everyone else though, he is a farce.

I was thinking more crawling by linkin park.

Edgy man, edgy...

For everyone else though, he is a farce.

I don't do either of those things and no he's not a farce to me.

I don't know if we saw the same film, or maybe I pooped to the loo while he was being a wannabe.

But what I saw was exactly the sort of character you expect to see as someone that's been corrupted by the Sith and fuels his force powers with the dark side. Ie Anger and Hate.

He is reminiscent of Anakin and that's i think because the manner of his fall is the right way to go, only in his case it was appallingly executed and exacerbated by Hayden's awful acting and the terrible script he had to work with. " From my point of view the Jedi are evil"

Kylo to me is a better baddie than Vader, calm collected badass is just less scary than utterly volatile emotional outbursts. I thought that Kylos motivations were believable and tragic and people sneering at him being "emo" just confuse me a bit. Are you school bullies and jock that pick on the alt music crowd? You are probably the reason Kylo was lured by the temptation of his dark family past.

Kylo lost all menace and credibility when the mask came off, then he became another whineakin Skywalker.

Ugly Jon Snow

He still stopped a blaster shot in the air and held it there. And that was still awesome. Rey just started to break down his composure by looking in to his mind and then everything started falling apart around him, added to the fact that he knew his Dad was involved and it's not really a surprise he went to pieces the way he did.

Also I like the look of Kylos shuttle, I think it's suitable menacing but this Rogue One shuttle looks flimsy. I think the wings are basically pointless on the Lambda and on the Upsilon but that is the reconcilable element of an Imperial Shuttle.

Plus designers can't seem to win, if they make things purely functional like Leias command transport thing it's "just a flying box" and if they add any flare then "It's not designed logically!"

Kylo to me is a better baddie than Vader, calm collected badass is just less scary than utterly volatile emotional outbursts.

I'll just leave that there, both statements.

Dath Vader was weak, he turned away from the righteous path of darkness when the draw of the light was too much for him, he couldn't resist it's pull and ultimately chose his family and the light.

Kylo is not so weak, his efforts to quash the light within know no bounds, even so far as to kill his own family to do it. And he can stop massive blaster shots in mid air.

Seriously though tell me when in that film he was an whiney emo? The emo thing seems to be one of those silly internet tropes like how every shouts about the cake being a lie, and WHO SAW LUCILLE!

I have seen the comedy Emo Ren comics and jokes and sure they are funny, and I see the comparison, but not to any sort of real extreme that people seem to think it is.

Did you just see the film one time then read all the Emo ren stuff on the net and decide it must have been true or something? Did you just set out to not like the film and latched on to something to criticism?

Because all I see are people resorting to being insulting rather than giving any kind of constructive criticism or even site any examples of what they are talking about.

Did you mean that he was whiney whilst he was punching his own open bow caster wound to cause himself pain to feed from, and get himself pumped for the fight. Or while he stopped a laser in mid air while he interrogated and murdered an old family friend, and then ordered the execution of a village full of people?

What I see in Kylo is a sort of parallel between something like drug addiction and the dark side.

Parents and teachers tell their kids that they need to stay away from drugs and and their biggest fears are seeing their children laying about in drug den off their faces and doing anything to get another fix.

Kylo grew up with his parents and family and friends all as these famous heroes and that could easily have planted seeds of resentment and the need to rebel and we know the lure of the Dark Side is strong. Snoke had an easy target, a powerful force sensitive that would be easy to bend to his will by feeding him all these stories about his grandfather.

The entire scenario is so believable and "real" it makes Darth Vaders "My wife is gonna die so I need to kill all the Jedi" look even more ridiculous. I think part of the reason why it was a bad idea to make the prequels is because it'd be very hard to tell a convincing story of Anakin Skywalkers fall.

It's got to be difficult to appease everybody, when some people want a Black and White "he does it cos he's evil" villain, and some people prefer the shades of grey approach.

I think Kylos story is tragic. I want him to die for what he did, but hopefully that has now concreted his resolve to the Dark and we will see less of his struggle in the future.

Barf, just BARF mate <_< I just can't stand Kylo Whine.. (and most of the rest of the movie neither..)

lets hope Forest Whitaker does an A class job as an A lister and show these wannabee actors how real acting is done, in a Star Wars movie, lol.

One thing I love is that people who don't like the force awakens are like "it's too much like a new hope!" And the people who don't like the prequels are like "it's too different from a new hope!"

And many of those people don't like either the prequels or the sequels.

I just can't wait to see it be destroyed; maybe that's why they made it so dumb. They're like, "Hey, it's only going to be in 'one' movie, might as well make it suck so bad everyone will enjoy watching it blow up.

For those who love it, I have come to the conclusion you would love anything. They could put a piece of poop on a stick and fly it around and hail it as a new fighter and you'd all be like..."AMAZING, I can't wait to fly the Poop Fighter in X-wing!!!"
