Not sure if I should have posted this in the off topic, but anyways. After greeting FFGJosh in the Corellian Conflict thread, I started wondering. Why do we take such pleasure in calling out the FFG employees? Not that I disagree with doing it, I'm just curious as to why we do it.
A question
Because it's like sighting a unicorn.
That's a good enough reason for me, thanks!

Don't know, never understood why people feel the need to do that. Do that many people actually do it though, or is it just the same handful of users who pipe up every time a mod is on the forums?
because we can
It mostly is a case of the fact that, they are there... They never announce their presence by posting...
I do it, because people were claiming that FFG were never around, never looked, never spoke...
To kind of "Prove it otherwise", I've always attached screenshots to threads where they've been about...
...
On that note, it was very, very rare to see them until recently - they've been popping up more and more... But I also feel that they are constrained by FFG's own policy in posting in threads, as what they say is 'official' and would have to be vetted by many means before it is put out to public consumption...
I feel like they most have their own superduper secret forums so that they can have their own OMG NELSON IS AT IT AGAIN threads
I'll say that it's mostly for the 'sighting a unicorn' style enjoyment as well. But there's an added layer for me here: If it was just FFG junior staff under the name 'Arm-Mod #3' or if they were as active in the community as other members, then I don't think I would call them out because they're doing their job. But those names are directly involved in the development process, which makes this something like being graced by royalty.
We assume that they can't really post anything, but just the very fact that they've decided that a thread is worthy of their attention (by gauging reaction/curiously taking in the community's thoughts) really removes them from that ivory tower that I've assumed corporate game devs must occupy. They are't behind locked gates of adamantine, guarded by the peon group-think hounds of Kor'Prayt, they're just there. They don't speak, and thus remain the Watchers in the Dark.
So we reach a bit of an odd balancing effect: FFG has created a laissez-faire style of forum moderation which can make them seem unresponsive or aloof, but their articles and interviews say that they have actually been paying attention to what the community wants, which means they have to get that information from somewhere. Usually I'd assume it's filtered through specially delivered corporate sanitized and sanctioned e-mails read behind said Adamantine doors, removed from the community at large, but spotting their names is enough to say that they at least occasionally descend from the tower to mingle with us commoners. When you combine it with the novelty of the forum setting and their using named accounts, we get this weird 'Yarr, there she blows: Michael Gernes, the white whale! Quick landlubber, three-degrees off yon port bow, and hand me that Pokeball!" effect that I/we seem to enjoy.
Long story: blame FFG for messing with us psychologically
I agree with Vykes and Drasnighta on this.
They need a new employee. FFGWaldo.

Kind of like finding deer in your backyard. Great to see them and you hope no-one scares them off. I love to think FFG employees go through the site to see what people are talking about.

In my neighborhood, It's more impressive to see a day when there isn't a deer on my property. And
I don't even have any woods on it. they just walk around like pigeons in the city!
But really guys, the Execs are just people like us too!
On another topic I decided to spend my bonus on a tissue used by Christian T. Petersen instead of some sorely needed expansions! Don't regret it! It's in a glass case on my mantle!

Sam Stewart has at least two posts around here. (FFGWorthingtonIII) Is his moniker I believe and his posts have been role played in the style of a southern gentleman. (Or at least I read them in the voice of Foghorn Leghorn).
Sadly they were in an Admiral rant and may have been long lost.
Just to be a pedant and correct thee oh mighty rules guy.

Is that him? I thought that was one of the IFF guys or a fan of the cast playing games. That's hilarious.
I think, based on the last few products that have been pumped out, that it is really very clear that although they really don't participate on this board, they monitor and take what they should from it.
They want Interdictor and Liberty? Done.
They want Demolisher counters? Set.
They want official scenarios and campaigns? Here they come.
I'll bet almost any amount of money Thrawn makes his way in to this game within the next 2 waves. I'm very excited about Armada right now.
