Imperial Assault Skirmish Maps

Does anyone use these for Edge of the Empire?

They seem like they would work, but $26 for 3 maps seems way too pricey. Especially considering you could find something similar and print it out yourself or at a copy place for way cheaper. Maybe they're quality mats and not just paper, but still. I want this badly, but... not worth it for our use.

I like to use older micro machines for 3D sets and PC/NPCs (I happen to have a lot of those).

these are very specifically designed for the Skirmish game and for the price, a GM would noticeably scoff

I would suggest
First
Looking at MAPS OF MASTERY & other Products by Christopher West
or other WOTC Skirmish maps from the SW Miniatures game

Next checking out the Paizo FLIP Mat and tiles choices there's e a WIDE variety of choices and options

Or
looking into buying the IA tiles secondhand and designing what you need based on what you have

Keep in mind the game rules refer to "Range Bands" (Hex based area) they do not consider a "Gridded" 1" combat area. Adjustments need to be made
I recommend using 7 squares as the allowed bases of movement

There's a thread on the IA forum for pre-printed maps, you can download all the skirmish maps and print them out.

Have you checked online for star wars miniatures via Amazon?

There should be a few packs based around the Clone Wars period for example the crystal caves of ilum have you seen that one yet?

A vinyl mat, some wet erase markers, and some cheap WotC miniatures are a better investment.

Adjustments need to be made

New GM here, I have a good amount of gridded maps and I would love to use them in my adventures. What do you mean by using 7 squares?

I think he meant "base unmodified movement speed."

Have each character's movement capped at seven squares, barring terrain difficulty that slows them down and reduces the numbers of squares moved or advantages that let them move faster. You can always pull the D&D 3rd edition rule of diagonal movement costs 1 1/2 movement. So moving two squares diagonal would actually be equal to moving three in a straight line.

Thanks, that was helpful. I like the idea of the 1.5 movement points for the diagonal. I'll have to take a good look at the character stats and see how to implement them on the gridded maps.
