250 Escalation, YIKES! (Rebels)

By Izza, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Our club is running our annual tournament at the end of Aug, one day is 100pt dogfight, and the second is an escalation event.

The escalation steps are 75, 150 and 250. 250 seems massive to me, it's gonna be a whole bunch of ships on the board, gonna be silly.

Never done one of those before, so I'm throwing stuff around to see how it looks.

Here's what I'm looking at so far:

75 points

Dash Rendar (54)
YT-2400 Freighter (36), Push the Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5)

Green Squadron Pilot (21)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Push the Limit (3), Crack Shot (1)

148 points

Dash Rendar (54)
YT-2400 Freighter (36), Push the Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5)

Green Squadron Pilot (21)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Push the Limit (3), Crack Shot (1)

Kyle Katarn (33)
HWK-290 (21), Twin Laser Turret (6), Recon Specialist (3), Moldy Crow (3)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (40)
T-70 X-Wing (31), R2-D2 (4), Predator (3), Autothrusters (2)

250 points

Dash Rendar (54)
YT-2400 Freighter (36), Push the Limit (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5)

Green Squadron Pilot (21)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Crack Shot (1), Push the Limit (3)

Kyle Katarn (33)
HWK-290 (21), Twin Laser Turret (6), Recon Specialist (3), Moldy Crow (3)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (40)
T-70 X-Wing (31), R2-D2 (4), Predator (3), Autothrusters (2)

Han Solo (60)
YT-1300 (46), Push the Limit (3), C-3PO (3), Ezra Bridger (3), Millennium Falcon (Evade Version) (1), Engine Upgrade (4)

Green Squadron Pilot (21)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Crack Shot (1), Push the Limit (3)

Green Squadron Pilot (21)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Crack Shot (1), Push the Limit (3)

So thats 7 ships on my side (2 large), it could get very crowded if the other player brings a couple of swarms. So that makes me wonder about Push the Limit (incase you cant tell, I love it), there's bound to be lots of bumping, so actions might not get used as much? Hopefully the Greens will be getting in peoples way.

I might try out Wired on the GSP instead of Crack Shot, as PtL will keep them stressed.

I've only recently picked up Dash, keen as to try him out. Not sure if PtL is all that, without Engine Upgrade on him. Also both YTs dials arent great for Green destress, but dont know what to put on instead

I have played a few 200 point games and will say that ships that are looked down on start to do really good.

If you have an E-wing: Etahn A'Baht is a 250 pt legend, giving out an incredibly amount of critical hits. Kanan Jarrus is all you really need on Dash to make him great, but if you add engine upgrade he becomes nearly untouchable. I'd ditch crack shot and PTL on the green squadron pilto at 75 Pts to make room for engine upgrade on Dash. You can ditch either recon specialist or moldy crow on Kyle Katart at 150 pts; you never actually need both. Use the extra points to put crack shot and PTL back on the A-wing. I would get rid of Han Solo at 250 pts and replace him with something more durable, like an E-wing (with all the usual upgrades - look it up) plus a prototype A-wing for blocking shenanigans.

This is all for my preferences of course, as I prefer maneuverability over durability (but both is nice). If only my local area had tournaments like this.

Thanks for your thoughts. I too am a fan of manouverbility, so your ideas sound good to me.

I'm not allowed to change ships from a prevous points level, so unfortunately once a ship is in, it has to stay that way.

I played Dash in a 100pt game tonight with Enigne Upgrade and had a ton of fun, so that's getting serious consideration here. I have been looking at E-Wings, but dont own one atm. I can see how Etahn would really come into his own.

Also considered Biggs, to keep some of the more important pieces alive

Yes, Recon and Crow is probably overkill, so will trim one. Maybe stick Jan Ors in, to give Dash an evade.

Good idea. The E-wing pack also contains Advanced sensors, which is (by almost everyone's standard) one of the best cards in the game, and can also be used on the B-wing. Biggs is a great idea. I'd suggest:

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R2F2 (3)

Stealth Device (3)

The combination of upgrades gives Biggs 4 agility, and by flying him at range 3 you bump it up to 5. This makes it extremely difficult for any sort of two die attack to get through, and three dice attacks have trouble. You can give him a focus using Kyle Katarn.
