Hey guys, I recently picked up a Gozanti (
). I'm looking to open it up and mod in some LED lighting.
Does anyone have any pointers regarding how to go about opening it up?

Not sure if Aweber5 is still active on here, though - not been on for a while...hopefully just holiday
[...towards the end...he starts a second with lighting]

Thanks ianmiddy!
Via that thread I found this youtube video with exactly what I wanted to know!
im too afraid to crack that or the raider open. Otherwise i'd want to light it up too.

The Raider is actually WAY easier to do than the Gozanti. The only thing you have to watch out for are the TIE wings; their posts are actually clamps that hold the top and bottom haves together. With some pliers, grab the base where it meets the hull and pull gently but firmly while wiggling to break the glue. Then with a simple flat sculpting tool (or butter knife) you can get the rest of it apart pretty easily. BEWARE that the panels break off the posts with very little pressure, but will glue back on easily.
Buy a tube of black JB-Weld silicone for the fiber optics. Using CYA glue is just asking for trouble. For the lights, you can make it easy on yourself and get one of the plug/play vehicle kits from Powered Play gaming.
I've been planning a blog post on it, but haven't had time to put one up yet. I will soon.
Be advised that the Gozanti is kind of a nightmare. The top and bottom halves of the wing section both have their own lip, and the front lower nose section clamps back together super-tight. If I ever did another one, I'd do it way differently than I have. I also ran into issues with the wing section not having enough space for FO bundles AND a ton of wiring, so cut your fibers long, and run them all the way up into the upper hull to your short-coiled lighting wires. You can run lights down into & behind the two big engines, but that's it.
(PS: If anyone knows anyone who's done an Outrider and posted photos, let me know.)

I haven't done anything to a Raider, but opening up the Gozanti was surprisingly easy.
And I have never done anything like this before. I haven't been a 40K modeler for years or anything... X-Wing is my first miniatures game.
I used a box-cutter and a butter knife and was able to open it up completely within an hour or so.
