Looking forward to listening. You guys and Mynock were my inspiration for plunking down close to $100 to get this thing printed and mounted. Finished first scenario, loads of fun. I'll be enjoying your discussion, keep up the good work.

Glad to hear you've been having fun with HotAC! We all really enjoy playing it. We should be doing an interview with the authors in early August, so keep an eye out for that; I'm looking forward to recording that episode.

Are you aware of any online print shops that can be utilized for printing the HOTAC files for an affordable price?

Love the podcast!

Thanks!

I personally don't know of any; Jim might, but mainly we've found other ways to get access to the game documents. I play HotAc on vassal with jake anyway, so I use the pdf versions, opened on a second monitor. Jim printed his out at work, piecemeal so nobody would catch him.

Cheapest online I heard of is $30. Not sure where.

It's been said before, but FFG would make such a killing if they sold HotAC or something similar. Even if they priced the core rule book aggressively, how many people are there out there who would buy more X wing stuff if they had this campaign system in their hands? To say nothing about the number of people that would keep playing or start playing.

I'm building my imperials just to have enough to play hotac!!

I'm looking at getting the rule book spiral bound (the more the cheaper)

Anyone know any UK sites that can print the cards? I can do the terrain on printing and backing it on foam board or something

Ha! Maybe we can do a Kick Starter with a publisher to get so many orders from a publishing house for cheap? Have it all color printed and bound in spiral notebook. Have the terrain done on card stock or something. If we get x many, it costs y. If it's a bulk order, it can be done cheaply.

Just printing the book on a5 spiral bound is £20 for one but £30 for 5 (and similarly scaled) i'm happy to sort out the terrain for multiple people but the cards are fiddly (and not glossy enough for me!)

love your podcast though guys it is awesome (cant put my finger on it why i like it so much though, must be J-bot and his Ewok fetish)

There's actually pretty clear precedent for zero point modifications taking up your modification slot in the B-Wing/E2 modification.

For the purposes of HotAC, it's considered a free modification and is built into the sheet so that you can give up your first mod slot for a crew upgrade.

Considering that, I don't see why Integrated Astromech or Guidance Chips should be treated differently. You already get four mod slots over the course of the campaign, wanting to get two more just seems greedy.

I think the reason why the rulebook makes a big deal about them being considered "built into the card" is to make it clear that you won't lose these free upgrades from bad rolls if you are shot down.

So to settle the debate about IA and guidance chips: someone asked about it in the comments on the HotAC FAQ: http://dockingbay416.com/campaign/faq/#comment-920

Answer being: T65 gets IA built in without taking your modification slot. T70 if you use it has to use the mod slot as usual. Chips is 0 points and takes up a mod slot.

Just listening to this episode now. I think it really validates my group's decision to track points as per single rules, but then we pool and divide that experience at the end of each match. Then, we hand out the leftovers to whoever needs an extra point or two to get to their desired build or depending on who didn't get the leftovers the previous mission. It keeps a cooperative feel and nobody is fighting over points or falling behind. It sounds way more fun.

I'd love to see a set of Shapeways models for the HotAC stations. Would definitely look cool on the table.

That sounds like a pretty good way to handle things. Defining what counts as an assist is always going to be tricky, for one thing. The way you are doing it also eliminates the concept of 'stealing a kill', since the xp from every kill is shared.

Loved this episode.

The old guy griping about pure support not being as viable as a fighter - in a fighter game - probably needs to just get over it.

'I don't like taking the good combos, but the skills I took are not as good!'

I do like this, too, and might end up using it.

*sorry, wrong thread*
