Grit VS Y-wing+Xwing

By Kiwi Rat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Quick question!

If a squadron has Grit, can it move when "engaged by one Y-wing and one X-wing???

Bit confused on this do to Heavy.

Thank in advance for any clarification on this ;)

No.

Grit only allows you to move if you are engaged by a Single Squadron.

You are Engaged by Heavy Squadrons (its just that you don't suffer penalties of said engagement for th emost part)...

But, the critical core is you are still engaged. .

ALL enemy Squadrons would have to be Heavy to allow you to move.

FAQ, Page 4:

Q: Is a squadron with grit prevented from moving while engaged with two squadrons, one with heavy and one without heavy?

A: Yes

It cannot move. Grit turns off the moment the squadron with Grit is engaged by 2 or more squadrons. It is engaged by 2 or more squadrons in your example and therefore Grit does not work. It doesn't matter that the Y-Wing is Heavy. If both engaging squadrons were Heavy, Grit still wouldn't work but the Grit squadron could move away because both the squadrons are Heavy (but not due to Grit).

The problem is a lot of people misinterpret Grit to read "ignore one squadron when moving" and thus this question comes up periodically.

Thanks for speedy reply :D

Had a friendly game today where it came up, we did it in reverse, so some of my opponents Silly bombers got away, despite being engaged by two sqd. one Y-wing and one X-wing/Hwk290.

I won with a MOV of about 180pts, so I was not at all upset about it ;)

But its always good to know.
