Wiffy Luke.... Hits hard.

By Jondavies72, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I've never been a lover of wiffy Luke, but will bomber command give him new life.....

He could act like a nasty bugger linked with Adar tallon, Yavaris with engine tec a couple of stacked bomber command centres all in a high activation fleet going last/first. That could give you five black dice with two reroles each for crit fishing strait onto the hull. And a nasty set of Rams from Yavaris.... Considering how cheap Yavaris is you can exchange well for a lot of ships.......

Oh yes its very much a great thing. Join him with Keyan or Toryn Nym and you can threaten enemy ships over a massive area as all three are capable of massive damage with a triple tap.

Luke is great to threaten small ships, but I find he doesn't work well against bigger ships. That's because he leaves shields behind that everyone else on his side has to work through before they help Luke contribute damage. I'd rather have a team that works together to take shields down and then have everyone contributing crits, etc.

He is effective against raiders and corvettes due to their low hull points. Perhaps in concert with Dodonna and a whole lot of APT's he's viable, but I prefer other Rebel squadrons.

This is definitely Luke's jam. He does a great job of forcing your opponent away from your Precision Strike for a relatively low investment (in the sense that you're not giving up much overall utility for a tool that's REALLY devastating in PS), allowing you to build a plan around just your yellow and blue objectives.

In general, I think of Luke and Nym as an interesting one-two punch. Luke is optimized to kill small ships; Nym, to kill big ones. Neither is bad against their off-target, just a little less than optimal. Take both, and you can choose on the fly who gets the Adar double tap based on the scenario. You're still getting full utility out of your fleet overall, plus you have the ability to adapt on the fly for the situation you're in.

What Ard said.

I find that I yav tap with Keyan and nym early game to drop that ISD they thought was impenetrable. Then yav Luke late game to finish ships without wasting resources.

Nice thoughts on Nym, Luke and Yavaris, I also like Dutch in my Yavaris mix as he adds that ability to really shut down enemy fighter strategy and like the others has utility ( if sub optimal) in anti ship, not so sure about wedge he's good, but do I need to murder fighters I've de activated or should I take two a wings to try to kill active threats ?
