This is disappointing, but totally livable. There's a lot WORSE things they could do to the game.
Thank You, FFG, for Dropping Time Periods
Im good... hope they end that time period nonsense at all.
Talked about that before. https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/219720-obi-wan-kenobi-greedo-and-the-grand-inqusitor-packs-announced/?view=findpost&p=2221117
Those who feel "disturbed in theyre gaming experience" just follow the movies timeline. All the others can play how they want without ruleslawyers saying they cant...
Now just need to wait for Emperor Palpatine to be released...

Why do you so desperately want IA to be ruined?

The only time a game is ruined is when someone that wants to play a game and finds out that water/bugs/dog/whatever damaged the box contents. Nothing else.

While I disagree that a company can't ruin a game with design decisions I've got to agree (even as someone who is thoroughly anti-Palpatine as a figure) that his addition would not ruin the game.
More on topic I'm a bit salty about including high-power melee weapons in these packs. It feels like FFG knew that some people wouldn't want these packs for the figures so they added item cards that the campaign game needs in them, which is sensible from a business standpoint but feels like a slap in the face.
I can't help but wonder if any of the RPG players would enjoy having Obi-Wan, The Inquisitor, and/or Greedo.
I bet not.
Not at all.
They'd probably also hate having a Palpatine, Yoda, random droids, etc. Yeah, they'd hate that a lot.

Wonder at will... Were talking about a minis game (with a very small dust of RPG) not a full RPG but Ill indulge in your "wonderingness" and say that first you have to know if those players (GM included) have a open mind about what they want and how they want to play. After you know the answer to that... you either use those characters if everyone dont see a problem with that or you dont if someone (or a majority) dont like the idea.
Its sad that many gamers want to enforce how all the others should play just because one doesnt like something and so shouldnt be given that option...

I'm not too qualmed by this.
They included melee item cards with melee characters and a ranged one with a ranged character.
It seems like this is more to help the campaign players get more value out of the packs because there were complaints with the Hired Guns, Wookiee Warriors, Stormtrooper packs about this.
You can't win them all but when we complained about lack of items last time they added more.
In other news if anyone needs the items I'll be getting 2x of each of these packs and I can send a set of items out to someone. Hit my up by PM.

I agree very much. I always hated seeing those kind of comments on various D&D boards (you're having fun wrong).
But my point was more along the lines that if you want to exit/enter a building and the door is blocked that you should look for an open window.
As much as these figures are upsetting certain segments of the IA community, my thought is that the IA community (or at least the campaign players) are not the true target audience and FFG are really looking to the RPG gamers, collectors, and skirmishers (skirmish mostly as an afterthought). These figures could be the proverbial open window if FFG are prohibited (as I've seen some speculate) from making generic SW minis.
But some of my favorite comics are from DC's Elseworlds and Marvel's "What If...?" so I'm already a little predisposed to enjoy the chance to run Obi-Wan, Greedo, or even The Inquisitor.

If you agree very much then I dont see how you helped the discussion with your comment... anyway... moving on...
Wrong point then. If you want to exit/enter a building and the door is blocked you should blow up the door... (or use the Force on the door since this is about Star Wars).
I also said before and say again... this is a business for FFG and like any business they want to make money so the minis are made to support mainly the skirmish game since thats what gives then more income than the campaign players and also you have the IA tournaments.
Thats the spirit... embrace the dar... errr... I mean embrace the "what if's" of IA and you could be surprised in a good way someday...
Edited by KentaresBoy some people can whine about everything. imaging a time period or just dont buy them if its enoying you.
But 5 pages really ?
Ya, some people can even whine about other people whining
Geez!
Okay, with the latest Jedi version of Luke and his noticeably missing time period indicator, I think we can safely conclude that FFG has silently killed this mechanic from the game. ![]()
By having every pack announce it does not seem very silent to me.
A major rule has been axed without a word either in the errata, f.a.q. or a single news item. Yeah, it was loud and clear...
They should have published the game without the timelines anyway.
No one ever needed it in the other Star Wars games.
If they errata it, they should remove the whole timeline thing.

The rule itself is still in place.
But if that lessens your people's rant, so let be it so.
Can't really stand sarcasm, can we...?
Even thou you were the one who tried to be smart when I simply made a one-line statement (hardly a rant). Mmmkay... ![]()
