For the first time in their time on this forum Boba Rick and PatrickMahan have found some thing to agree about.
I agree with them as well this time...
NOW GIVE US OUR TIME PERIODS BACK!!!

I was surprised to see that too.
Wait, what? No, I like the freedom that comes from putting characters anywhere I want and that's great! Thank you FFG!
Blech, just kidding, no, FFG has destroyed the principle that our very nation (well, MY nation: 'Merica) was founded upon: liberty WITH law - and has replaced it with ANARCHY! Yes, ANARCHY!

When time periods are outlawed, only outlaws will use time periods.
I don't think time periods will ever be outlawed; I see this more as a you're a politician, so we won't punish you for committing treason.
Boba nailed it in the other thread. It's the inconsistency that bothers me as well.
I'm pretty sure we all nerd squealed when we figured out that we couldn't bring Han or Luke to RTH and now all that effort is suddenly out the window with these packs. It's disappointing but what can we do.
Our campaign group is very "hurry up and read the narrative so we can get to the objectives" oriented so details like this will be quickly forgiven.
I'm more excited for the item cards to be honest!
The packs are there to be used, or not used, however the buyer sees fit.
You don't like that they don't have time periods? Don't use them in your campaign.
You want run a parallel universe campaign where Obi-Wan survived? Knock yourself out.
The items can be integrated regardless.
If you really want to use them in a way that respects canon, create your own missions/mini campaign set before ANH.
These fall squarely in the "do whatever you want with them, and don't let anybody tell you what to do" category.

Ok. So why didn't they just get time period 1 and 2 then and we could do that ourselves?
Why does it matter if you a stickler for the story dont put them in when they arent in the movie.
Otherwise use them in any mission It shouldnt be so hard.
I really dont care when heroes popup im playing a side story from the movies so anything can happen.

Because we have no idea how time periods 1 and 2 will interact with the campaign structures in the future.
Maybe there is no place for Obi-Wan, Greedo and the Inquisitor in those time periods. It's all speculation until they release something that ties in to whatever those periods will be.
Are you seriously arguing about how the lack of time periods on these cards ruin your enjoyment of the figures/cards?
You, the person who may or may not buy this product, are entirely free to use it however you please.
A measly little time period on a card isn't enough to stop anyone playing whichever card they want, whenever they want.
Jeez, this all seems like so much furore over what is essentially a gaming company telling players to use the pieces however they want...
I don't really play much campaign (done one run through of the core set) but I'm kinda with Maj on this one, surely your group can just use them how you want?
Im a big campaign player. I have been following the time periods closely. When i heard obi wan and greedo came out. I thought they were for skirmish only. hearing they are for the campaign also, i am sort of hesitant to buy them. Though upon reading the comments in this thread, and playing a lot of Star wars: Rebellion, i feel you can make the story how you want.
I sort of like that idea, maybe key points happen in the universe, like han being frozen, the battle of hoth, the death star exploding. but you are making your own Legend stories
Maybe when you select the side missions, you can suggest to the rebels picking their ally side missions that choosing the obi-wan side mission is an alternate universe, where he was not killed.
this is making me consider Greedo and Obi-wan

I am so conflicted right now! :S

I' m tired of arguing with people like you... so I'll just copy and paste my answer from the last topic.
No this is "I wish FFG would stop taking a **** on Star Wars" syndrome. And don't give me the "if you don't like it, don't buy it" bull either. That reasoning is completely stupid considering it means I have to wait even LONGER for new content now. There are tons of other characters that they could have released that would be usable in time period 3 and 5.
Yes. I do need/want FFG to put timelines on these missions. 1. They've already established the rule. 2. Why can't people who don't care just ignore that? Why does it have to be the other way around? 3. What is the point of making Obi-wan and etc if you are just going to IGNORE their entire story?
Without the timelines on these cards, the entire background of these iconic characters is destroyed. Obi-wan might as well be old jedi dude... Greedo might as well be some random rodian... etc. Instead, FFG just wanted a quick paycheck so they slapped these together without giving any care about involving them in any story.
Now we'll never see these characters in any storylines... Instead they are 100% separate from any story (besides their single side-mission) because FFG wanted a quick buck.
PS. I have zero intention of buying these PoS figure packs now. I'll just ebay the item cards cause thats the only usable part.
Next release... "In order to allow a more open-ended play experience, discard the Rules Reference Guide and do what you want. Seriously, they're just plastic miniatures, why do you need 'rules'? Just play with them... we're tired of telling you how."
Here you go, use these to add time periods to your agenda/side mission cards.

Let's try and keep it calm guys, "people like you" is a bit harsh ![]()
Love and peace gents, love and peace...
I dont care of the intention FFG has with IA. I hope they continue to support it, make good product, and Ill continue to buy it. In the end, its better to just put the Time Periods in and then allow people to do whatever they want with it. Again, House Rules have been in place since this game came out. If people really want Obi Wan to show up in Hoth or TGI to show up on Endor, theyre going to do it. But at least put in guidelines that you created so the investment and rules are in place. What people choose to do with them after that, is on their own.
If Skirmish is all theyre going to do, then dont even bother with the Campaign versions then. Release those cards in the later big/small box sets.

Then don't. No-one if forcing you to respond to any message.I' m tired of arguing with people like you...
No, I do. If FFG doesn't hear about people's objections to this then they'll think its completely fine.
You can't tell me that FFG doesn't listen to us. If they didn't then RGs and Saboteurs wouldn't have been nerfed and we'd still be seeing overcosted single figures.

What makes you think that dropping Time Periods wasn't based on feedback / rules submission questions?

You yourself have said you dislike the change. Now you are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

No, I'm not. I dislike the change, and I think it's a lazy implementation. But I think it's a reasonable assumption that the change came from somewhere.
I don't see what the steam is about either. Time Periods don't add or subtract from the game in my opinion. From my perspective, it looks like they maybe had a link or an idea of how they would work in the beginning, then realized that it would constrict the ability for future development, and FFG got rid of it. When you make a mistake or change your mind, why keep doing what you've always done, change it. Adaptation is good, especially if it allows for growth. I'd rather the game increase in options instead of stagnate or diminish. I get to decide how and when I'll participate.
Again, I don't think they're straight up getting rid of time periods. They just released a new FAQ, and unless I missed it, they didn't say that time periods should be scrapped. The Bespin mini campaign didn't have them (neither did Twin Shadows, so that wasn't a surprise) and the newest A/V Packs didn't either.
If the next big expansion hits and there's no time period, then I'd feel like the coffin has been nailed shut.
