The Sands of Harad

By PsychoRocka, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

He doesn't look particularly hard-looking.

Seriously though, there was another art revealed (most likely quest card art) that showed a Harad man helping a wounded Gondorian away from a burning kind of settlement. I think that at the very least we'll see Harad objective allies.

I'm sure "hard-looking" is Autocorrect for "Harad-looking".

Remember Sam's famous quote? The Haradrim were not in and of themselves evil.they had just been deceived and bribed and otherwise forced by Sauron to fight against the Free Peoples. It's only reasonable to conclude you'd find some helpful and friendly ones, especially outside of the armies (the only place we've seen Southrons before).

From my perspective the "Free Peoples" are evil!

Wow! Cool!

It's like what we see in real countries, too. They probably had some corrupt leaders who followed Sauron for their own purposes. Some people followed either out of selfish or ideological motivations. Some disagreed and either followed anyway out of fear or fought against the corruption, getting killed in the process or being driven into hiding. Still others probably just saw soldiering as a job and didn't think about the reasons one way or another.

Just a far flung hunch, but I feel we'll be going north to Erebor & Long Lake etc. in 2017.

Wait, 2016 release? Are we finally getting the 2 deluxe expansions + cycles per year that we were promised since the start? :P Just seeing 2 deluxe expansions released in one year is surprising. :D

I don't know that we're going to get the full Haradrim Cycle this year. More likely we'll get just the start of it.

Anyway, I vote Haradrim guide objective.

We had Orthanc Guards as player cards, I don't see why we can't have Haradrim.

Haradrim mercenaries please.

Friendly Mumakil rides.

Underground resistance.

And belly dances.

So we have Giant Scorpions and Sandford (awesome!!)

In the desert theme, I'm thinking anything too Egypt Ian, eh sphinx, anubis etc is too far away from Tolkien, but scarab beetles, basilisk, sand drakes and such would all be very welcome. Undead hordes would be welcome and quite Tolkien too.

From my perspective the "Free Peoples" are evil!

I believe your perspective was that Peter Jackson is evil. :P

Haradrim mercenaries please.

Underground resistance.

And belly dances.

All four of those sound AWESOME!

Playtester? Please?

But yeah, I've been calling for that for awhile now, and this seems like a good time. So like the end of the cycle is Rhun, so that you are right near dale.

How about a Forochel cycle? Or a cycle centered around fighting the orcs of Mount Gundabad?

We need something in the frozen north. Maybe a journey to try and recover the lost Palantiri sunk in the Ice-bay.

Or maybe the next cycle (after Sands of Harad) is set in Rhun, and then they move onto Dale and the far north in the cycle following that?

Or maybe a Narnia cycle? They said they only would do 6.

I'm hoping next cycle Rhun, following cycle Grey Mountains.

What's in Rhun?

Forochel?

What's in Rhun?

Forochel?

No. Forochel and Rhun are nowhere near each other.
