Star Wars Fans ruin X-Wing not FFG!

By Tritus De, in X-Wing

X-Wing is ruined? FFG; please release a "Forum Aces" pack with fixes for Tritus and a new huge ship with alternate paint scheme forum.

I smell a Trekkie in our midst. Begone troll.

Hey now dont lump ALL of us "Space fans" together like that.. I might have to loudly proclaim on various forums that I am going to have to smash my collection of Star Trek attack wing ships AND my X-wing ships because the people on the interweb are just so mean and are a bunch of stinky pooopoo heads!! and they dont like the same stuff as me oh the humanity!!! and then i will have to smash my computer and disconnect from the net forever!! oh wait then never do that kind of thing do they??? :P

Don't disrespect my Star Wars! I'm the biggest fan, Star Wars will never die!

May you Force long and Prosper. :P

But yeah Prequel hate is nothing new especially around here. I am curious why FFG went with a prequel ship and not one of the new Disney U-wing and TIE-Strikers from Rouge One. Did the ARC-170 made an appearance in Rebels?

I will admit I am not a big fan when I first saw the ARC-170 and the MOST POINTLESS USE OF S-FOILS ever. Still I think more prequel ships and even the prequel sub-factions will make their way into X-wing.

Because this waves theme is arcs and there's no other ship they could of gone with unless they re-released the a-wing.

They could have released all the arc pilots in a y-wing and title that added a rear fingering arc and crew slot at the cost of the turret

Rear fingering arcs sound brutal. I'm not sure I want to play with those

Nah because you're making them buy the y-wing all over again and people already got 4 when the tlt fad popped up.

They have a MONUMENT to the game of soontiring your finger unexpectedly from behind!

I have a theory.

In relation to the OP's post. Star Wars is it's own best friend, and it's own demise.

In a horror film, the ghost, bad guy, demon, alien, etc is always scarier at the start of the film right? When the movie finished we walk away and think, well that was a silly axe murderer, clown, ghoul, etc. Why is that? Because our brain fills in the blanks. We can't see the source of the horror so our brain fills it's own blanks .. and what knows what is the scariest thinking for you .. your brain. Your brain thinks up the worst possible scenario to scare the **** out of itself.

Star Wars uses similar psychology. The throw away lines and lack of back story allow our brains to fill gaps. We emotionally invested in the original trilogy. Remeber that story about the bounty Han and Leia ran into at Ord Mandell, how good was that tale about Boba Fett which lead to Darth telling him not to disintegrate fools, I loved the backstory between Han and Lando, Tosche Station is my favourite location in the whole trilogy, what exactly does Darth do in his little capsule thing in Empire??

All of these things are not explained yet you have a complex story in your head detailing each and every one of those examples. Your brain has developed a story for each of these scenarios and like the aliens .. your brains knows exactly what it likes.

Yes, you have built linkages into the SW universe that are extreme;y interesting and exciting because each and every one was tailor made for you. You have emotionally invested in the series.

The Prequels didn't give us this .. they gave us the opposite by explaining EVERYTHING .. even the Force. We are not emotionally invested in these movies. They are just pretty lights and nice sounds.

I argue that this is why many people dislike the prequels and don't want to see them in the game.

No fair! I found a funny and subject appropriate meme and it didn't post.

Nope, not going to happen.

It was a green velociraptor asking this profound and deeply philosophical question:

if you hate haters does that make you a hater?

I think Star Wars Rebels is making me like Clone-Wars era stuff a little bit more. I wasn't a huge fan of TCW, but Rebels is so amazing that I'm rethinking a lot of my older opinions. And the ARC-170 looks pretty sweet.

FFG has made every small and large ship that I really wanted them to make already. I know a lot of people still want a few other ships, (gunboat), but at this point I'm fine with them going back and doing prequel stuff.

I will say that I DO want some more huge ships though, because I love large models.... official large models that is.

But I'm good after Wave IX. Once I get the ARC-170 and TIE S/F then I'll be good. Never expected the ARC-170 but I like the looks and I have been wanting the TIE S/F. I don't need anything else thank you.

But then again I don't know what Wave X will have either. What if it is something really cool like a large base transport ship from TFA movie. (Of course we know it will be more maneuverable than most rebel fighters anyway, sorry had to say that) or another ugly ship like the K-Wing and Punisher but with really cool cards? What then?

When I say I'm done, I'm done. I don't need to be in a program I don't have a problem. It just plastic, little plastic crack, ah look... my precious. Mine! I wants it!

STAR WARS FAN will one day, and I fear that day will come soon, if not already, be used by the dictionary to describe the meaning of the word: oxymoron

Speaking be being a little hateful aren't we?

But as a fan of both Star Wars and of Star Wars: X-Wing I hope I haven't offended you and since you're leaving can I have your stuff?

I do have the very minor fear that Wave 9 will be the peak when it comes to Wave quality

after all, how FFG could possibly top dat ARC is absolutely beyond me

Reading through this riveting thread I have a question:

How does one ignore somebody?

Use the mousewheel, scroll right past the offending comment. Works everytime!

I prefer the fingers in ears and shout "LALALALALALA!" method.

However, did you know about the ignore function? Seems like you identified the users that get on your nerves pretty well, blocking them could increase your enjoyment of the forum.

I meant what is this ignore function and how do you do it.

Sounds dumb anyway, but I thought I'd try it. On Tritus.

I was one of the people who was rather vociferously accusing the ARC-170 of being one of the most godawful things I'd ever seen. I did also say that this wasn't FFG's fault. In fact, their modelling of it is very impressive from a sculptural and manufacturing standpoint. That doesn't change my opinion that it is one of the most hideous ship designs I'd ever seen.

Here's my reasoning:

1) It's an opinion.

2) I don't hold this opinion because it's prequel era.

3) (and this is the big one, kids) I don't actually like Star Wars that much <gasp>.

Yup, there it is. I'm not a big SW fan, I just really enjoy the game and the people. I don't know who most of the pilots and crew are, or why their abilities are/aren't fluffy. I don't recognise or remember most of the ships. All I know is that the game is fun, and for the most part, the models are pretty. Hardly a game-ruining revelation.

The asteroid worm thing from Empire Strikes Back

Well I don't know most of the pilots either. Never heard of the 181st until long after I got into this game so I'm only a bit ahead since I do like the original movies and played a fair about of Empire at War. I actually got into this game because of it having prepainted Star Wars models, honestly that is the reason. Later I liked the game.

However, did you know about the ignore function? Seems like you identified the users that get on your nerves pretty well, blocking them could increase your enjoyment of the forum.

Go to the drop down box with your username and select "manage ignore prefs". Start typing a username you want to ignore and it should pop them up for you to select. The rest is pretty intuitive :)

I wasn't a huge fan of TCW, but Rebels is so amazing that I'm rethinking a lot of my older opinions.

Really? I thought that the writing for most of the Clone Wars stuff was much better than what we get with Rebels. I thought that the story arc where they dealt with the concept of proxy wars was particularly good.
