1) Can you open a chest if you are adjacent to the chest and another hero is on the chest square (they stopped there, but couldnt open it)
2) When you sell shop equipment back, is it at full price or half?

Thanks

did you read the manual?

-no

-half price

No need to berate the fellow. The basic rules of Descent play in a manner that makes a lot of sense, especially if you've played tile base games like it before, which allow a lot of new players feel comfortable with the game after a one-time reading of the rules. But there are so many minor variations, it's very easy to miss something like this and not remember where in the rules it is located. As such, they come to our *friendly* community and ask. Being friendly, even for simple things already explained in the rules, is what helps build our community :P

Having said that, no, you cannot open a chest if you are adjacent to it, or if another hero is on top of it. Here is the quote from the rulebook, page 18:

Chests found in the dungeon contain both
good and bad surprises. Heroes do not pick
up chests. Instead, a hero must move into the
space containing the chest. A hero cannot
open a chest if the chest is in the same space
as another figure.
Next, the hero must spend
two movement points to open the chest.

(emphasis added)

As for selling items, if you sell the item right when the chest is opened, you get full money value (250, 500, 750). If you sell it later, you only get half the value (125, 250, 375). I'm not sure, but this may have been altered in the FAQ (or maybe that was for RtL).

Yes, that's a very important errata. You can't sell the treasure instantly when you draw it; if you want to sell it, you must find space in your inventory, travel back to town, take a "shop" movement action (for 3 movement points), and sell it for half price. That makes a big difference.

Also notice that you can't buy treasures from the shop until you've opened a chest of the same color (for example, you can't buy silver treasures until opening a silver chest).
