Someone break this silly combo

From the Wiki:

  • Add: To add a die result, place an unused die displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die added in this way is treated as a normal die for all purposes and can be modified and canceled.

alas, Flight Instructor takes the crew slot, so no weapon engineer.

Green dice. The reroll of the eye will come up blank.

Wow, flight instructor might get used for the first time ever!

hey, for 1 point cheaper you just get a crew that gives you an extra focus and guarantee that ****

Lets double down on the sillyness!

Pretty sure "modify Defence Dice" is still "While defending". so the droid would get flight instructor reroll as well.

Flight Instructor only affects one focus or 2 blanks, so you would have to choose to reroll the focus from Norra's ability or whatever came up from R5K6.

Doesnt the card apply for each opportunity? It's a separate dice pool, though it's the same phase.

Wouldnt Flight instructor apply for both shots of a TLT? Why then would it not apply for the droid roll?

That timing FAQ opened a brave new world here...

You are basically doing

"Spend a target lock to get one additional defence die" so an action for a single defence die? Remind you of anything? R2-F2 does this 1 VB point cheaper, does it for every attack against that ship that round and it still sucks.

Pay 4 points and one action to add 1 agility against one attack is so unbelievable bad. I guess you get the normal flight instructor benefit on other attacks but yikes it's bad.

Again R2-F2 is way better then this combo but still is unbelievable bad.

its still 4pts for a very minor effect on a card. Thats one of those cards that could easily be a crew filler if it was 1-2pts since it rarely actually helps but it has only to gain so its somewhat justified to cost something. But not 4pts.

I dont think R5-K works that way, same with if you had Lone Wolf on Norra....since Flight Instructor says when defending. R5-K6 isnt a defense roll. And Lone Wolf is regarding attacking or defending, again not doing either with the droid.

New timing FAQ says otherwise.

When Attacking, it applies to all rolls. When Defending, it applies to all rolls. Including rolls (within those steps) for cards like R5K9 that make a roll in those steps.

Flight Instructor is triggered once per opportunity that you are defending, not once per opportunity that you roll a defense die.

TLT offers 2 seperate attacks and 2 seperate opportunities where you are defending

I think that is bending the interpretation of that FAQ too much. But I could be wrong.

Anyone else want to chime in one way or another? I'm now very curious if that could be a good combo- Norra with all three (R5K6, Lone Wolf, and Flight instructor).

Basically, looking at the new timing chart, if it happens inside the red or green box, you can trigger it once on whatever die is blank.

Clusters, TLT, or gunner, all trigger a new series of red and green boxes, so you can use it again if that happens.

.....Who wants to place a bet that the Next FAQ has an R5-K6 Errata added?

On;y if a red sees this post.

Well on the bright side you certainly could use CPO and R5-K6 together for an expensive pseudo Fire Control System.

I'm not sure it works the way I think you are describing how it works. Nora adds a focus result it doesn't change a green die. While Flight Instructor allows you to reroll a die. Honestly if you had a this combo you would simply spend a focus token to modify the focus result you could have rolled with FI and the one from Nora and get 2 evades.

RecSpec would have broadly the same effect for a point cheaper and much more reliability.

There, broken.

hmmmmmmm what about

Norra Wexley

ARC-170

R5-K6

Weapons Engineer

Alliance Overhaul

Once she can maintain 2 target locks and one she starts using them there is a chance they will just keep popping up and then can use her focus action.

then add a pilot talent like PTL or Predator to better your chances

hmmmmmmm what would you use the last points on (depending on how much green there is on the ARC dial)

72 points

• Norra Wexley

R5-K6

Push the Limit

Weapons Engineer

Alliance Overhaul

• Shara Bey

That seems pretty solid.

I'm inclined to think VI is going to be better than either of the EPTs though since she's relatively action independent and only has two actions base anyway, so PTL is much lower utility, and Predator is going to be a little redundant with Weapons Engineer and the droid.

Still basically a b wing though :(

If you save the focus and target locks to defend (1 green dice sux even with 9 hull) then predator will boost your attack. If they have a nice agile greed dial the PTL can get you your TL and focus.

The suggestion I've seen elsewhere of BB8/PTL/Kyle seems very solid. Green > BR > focus or tl > clear stress, get focus > tl or focus.

I've seen BB8/PTL used a lot in the past but the Kyle is a nice touch for that extra focus
