FFG I have a Request for Printed Materials for Torny Use

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

Dearest FFG,

I love Star Wars X-Wing and have played from wave 3, though the best I have done in a Tournament is 2-2, I am not the brightest but something that is amazingly helpful is having the ship charts. I am sorry, I threw them away from the ship packs, and having to bring the ones from the large ships takes up so much room on the table. I am sorry I did not keep them please don't hate me or disown me.

So my simple request is the following,

PLEASE create as part of the rulebook on the last page or another PDF with all the ship movements on it as a reference chart, that is allowed within Tournament play.

THANK YOU

I guess I can get over taking notes about how stupid I moved a ship.

I might be wrong but as part of the new FAQ I cant printout the sheets and bring them. This is from the FAQ,

Taking Notes and Outside Material Players cannot take notes or reference outside material or information during a tournament round. However, players may reference official rule documents or game components that do not contain hidden information at any time or ask a judge for clarification from official rule documents. Official rule documents include all rules documents available on the X-Wing page of our website, those found in an X-Wing product, or any portion thereof.

Why not just use one of the many fan made ones for now ? They are still legal.

Please note it says portion thereof. This is the information of it. Not the actual sheet.

Why not just use one of the many fan made ones for now ? They are still legal.

Only till August 1st, then only "official" material is allowed at tourneys.

Yup having to have all the large sheet print out for large ship movements alone, is a lot of table space. I understand what FFG is trying to do and don't disagree with it, but some need the reference stuff.

Wrong. The cards that have all the maneuvers are still legal. Even after August first.

I guess going forward keep everything and laminate it then keep that binder to bring with to tornys, I hate that I can't make notes again I understand it. Guess taking a bunch of pictures is going to be the way to go if you want to remember turns and what to do next time.

A single Printed sheet with all movements are a no go.

Bring a ton of extra inserts from the ship packs are allowed.

I would like the first not the second.

Sweet goodness I hate typing from a phone.

But what if you don't have that expansion yet or, like the O.P., threw yours out?

An official PDF maneuver reference is now required by FFG because they decreed that nothing else will be legal, even a put-together reference sheet.

I said in the "organised play" thread earlier [partly joking] - wear a helmet-mounted vidcam ;)

Ebay market is going to be crazy now....

Isn't this relaxing the current rules, not making them more strict?

Wow I wonder if using your phone is going to be a no no because "you could be taking notes" ....

Helmet cam is the way to go.

Again wrong. Ffg has said those are fine still.

I fail to understand why ALL of the documentation included in every package isn't available as a pdf...FFG must have them [and all previous versions] available in both source and print-ready versions [or they really should have], so why not make them available ?

Complete docs of the movements / cards / ship contents,special-abilities,missions should be available to reference...

Cheers

EDIT: ...and per your comment above, the obvious place for people to have them...is on their phone ;)

Except they didn't ******* say that and when I asked specifically wade said yes those are fine as they fall under the portion thereof section.

Putting that in official documentation to cite in a rules dispute is kind of important, though, since you can't expect citing "some guy on the internet claimed he talked to an FFG rep about it" to carry much weight with a TO. Er, no offense meant.

In that case, they need to improve their instructions:

" those found in an X-Wing product, or any portion thereof."

I would interpret that to mean a physical removal of the portion, not a photocopy collage or recreated version of the same, which could have been setup incorrectly.

They will need to clarify then, not trying to start a huge disagreement. I will email them in a bit.

Portion thereof is the information not the physical product.

No, you were always allowed to bring any FFG materials, from the packaging to the rulebooks, with you to tournaments. The homemade reference sheets were a gray area that's now been ruled illegal per the tournament regulations.

I've already said that to wade. And he's not random dude he is part of organized play.

I've already said that to wade. And he's not random dude he is head of organized play.

You're the random dude.

I talked to Wade and he said you had to physically cut out the manoeuvre tables.

No. Wade said they are fine as long as they are just the official information. So use the custom made cards that have all the dials on them. As recently as thirty minutes ago he said this.

Well, I spoke to him 17 seconds ago.
