Brobots....i miss you.

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

they will return in 2 or 3 waves there is bound to the 1 card the revives them

the Wave IX IG crew card could go someway to helping there

•IG-88 crew is a unique and do wwe know what he will cost or what he does (I may have missed that), Can it be used on another ig ? ohhhh I would love to know

Agressor = no crew

It seems you could use an IG-2000 capacity on an other ship equipped with IG-88 crew.

Looking forward for Moralo HLC IG Bossk Zuckuss with IG-88B...

Look further up-thread, they don't need to be revived!

I also wouldn't be sure what space there is. A better mod than Autothrusters? Nope, A better cannon than HLC or the odd Mangler? That would be rather scary. A better system than FCS/Advanced Sensors? Maybe, but its hard to imagine what that would be. A better Elite than Crackshot, PTL, Predator or Mindlink? That could certainly happen, but it would also affect other ships. I have a hard time thinking of one that would only buff IGs.

Ironically I think that U-boats inflicted a double-whammy on Brobots. Firstly they are a similar style of list so many Scum players who had mastered Brotbots switched smoothly to the New Hotness of U-boats.

Secondly, U-boats are a serious counter to Rebel lists, particularly Regen (which itself was a tough match for Palp/Aces). With Regen a much smaller factor in the meta, Palp/Aces rose to the top which in turn meant Brobots suffered as Palp/Aces are a good counter for them.

U-boats are also (unfortunately) a very good counter to other scum small ships with abilities that would be interesting vs aces. Heck, Talonbane with mindlink and engine upgrade was interesting in that context (since he could outmanoeuver OL and the Inquisitor), but bringing him to a torpedoe fight is... unwise.

This, combined with, how to put it... if you wanted to fly Scum there weren't all that many compeditive builds - Thug Life, Brobots, and the odd two-ship pairings were probably the biggest for a long time, so Brobots were practically synonymous with Scum. In a sense, you could characterise their popularity being partly because they did such a mess of the Scum small-based ships - StarVipers, Scyks, and even the Kithraxz all have their issues, and that's a lot of ships to be foundering in a single faction at once!

Not only has the meta shifted against them, their proportion of players has diluted as Uboats and the lists they encourage have now grown to competitive places. Can't help but note that the vast majority of their lists are still either large based or have a habit of showing up with ex-rebel hardware, though. :P

At that stage, I would have called the matchup "balanced", but Omega Leader and the Inquisitor changed that. The Inquisitor because he deals out far more reliable damage than Soontir while disabling autothrusters and Omega Leader because of his ability to affect both offense and defense. Add the fact that both can still arc dodge very efficiently and now the matchup favors these two. They are also, very, very popular of late.

While I think both ships pose challenges for Aggressors, I don't think effective arc dodging is part of that challenge. Inquisitor is married to 1 turns or 1-3 straights, and if he double repositions he gets no mods for the turn. If Omega repositions he gets no offensive mods (but the combo of Juke and his ability means he doesn't need them so much). The consistent damage both put through and their relative resilience have more to do with it. Well, and also like if they've got Inky and OL they're also rocking a shuttle and Wampa, neither of which you can afford to ignore and both of which can be nightmares to navigate around.
