The final single elimination match has a set time of 120 minutes.
Now, at long last, players and organizers can all go to a tourney with a general idea of how long it will go, how long they will need to keep employees on hand for, and when they will get to see their families again.
This is arguably more exciting than the end of Intentional Draws and Modified Wins IMO.

Probably a tiny nerf to more maneuver dependent aces, right? They can't take 5 turns lining up a perfect shot, disengage, and repeat. Not that 2 hours isn't still plenty of time to do a lot of this.
Ya it is a good change, but it also speaks to the fact that some issues in the game still need to be resolved. There should be some sort of penalty for running from combat to assure players don't seek out a time out scenario. No idea how they would implement that, or how "running from combat" would even be defined, but there are few things in this game as painful as watching a player run away round after round once they know they have the game sealed.
But you also can't penalize an X-Wing with R2-D2, no shields and one hull left for not going toe-to-toe with Soontir so they can regen some shields.
