KDY Spacemaster

By AceSolo5, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Just wondering if anybody got a decent deckplan of the Spacemaster, or can point me in the right direction for one on the internet?

My players are about to attempt to board one & repel the pirates who are attacking it next session!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers Ghostofman... I had seen that one but wondered if there were any others out there, I kinda imagined the front section was bigger than that.

The front saucer section is about 775 pixels in diameter. By the scale in the image that works out to roughly 22 meters. Given that the entire craft is 80 meters long according to the Star Wars wikia, that seems to be about right.

That plan is pretty gorgeous and detailed too in my opinion.

Cheers for the responses guys! Think I'll probably use the first example as it is really detailed! Think I'll have to say that the one they're boarding is a "modified" one tho as I've told my players that they've docked at the port airlock... Which it doesn't seem to have :) The joys of making stuff up on the fly eh... DOH!!

Have to admit tho, I do love the Spacemaster!!

I have one based upon the Colonial version, but I modified it to my liking and turned it into a home for a "belter" clan. I'm away from my main computer. I can't recall if I have it converted yet to a PDF (don't think so) that can be more easily shared. If truly interested I can take a look later and upload it?

Both of those deck plans are very well done. I love freighters like this, as they feel like the borrow heavily from our tractor-trailers and railway trains. (Well, and cargo ships, too, to a degree.) Just the idea of dragging all that stuff along, only to have it unloaded so you can load up for the next trip...

Yes, this post was a pointless and inelegant ode to the modern shipping.

Yes I'd be really interested in having a look at that if possible Sturn... Our next session is this coming Friday evening so anything that might save me a bit of prep time would be very much appreciated!

I've exported to several JPGs showing external and internal views in several formats (full with cargo, bobtail, just the cargo, etc). Not knowing exactly how you were going to use these I didn't put them in a PDF so you could more easily manipulate them they way you wished.

FULL CREDIT GOES TO COLONIAL CHROME. I love Chrome's deckplans, but I needed to alter a few things for the PCs "Mine Master". I also added an engineering section which is my only gripe with Chrome (most ships don't have engineering access internally).

One issue is I've never labeled the plans since I had only used them for my group and I knew what everything was. If you have a question of what something is I could probably do it quicker with text then creating a key since you have a deadline of Friday.

Note that I've called this a "Mine Master" since it has been used by a "family" of PCs and NPCs as a mobile home for their mining and salvage business. I've removed the speeder bikes and small mining ship they carry in a couple of the cargo boxes. Also, the pods that are carried won't match up exactly to the space master artwork available since different options were chosen.

Notes on how we've managed the ship due to its ability to separate the fore and aft sections to break apart when the cargo pods are dropped:

Saucer: The front saucer section includes a bridge, escape pods, small internal cargo area, and cabins. It has a power core and small repulsorlifts while separated. This is primarily just to move around when upon a planet in order to load and unload the cargo pods. Its not meant for travel. When the players decided to take a trip in it I made it a large, bulky, low performing airspeeder that was limited to low altitude. Silhouette 4, Speed 1, Handling -3, and I reduced ST/HT. Full Space Master is Silhouette 5, Speed 2, Handling -4. While in orbit or space I have allowed small maneuvering thrusters to perform docking procedures, but I haven't allowed it to actually fly through space without being attached to the aft section.

The rear section includes the sublight engines, more power cores, fuel, and the hyperdrive. My players wished to be able to move it about from engineering or remotely, but I didn't allow it. It's powered but dead in the water without being attached to the saucer. Weapons attached to it could work due to its own power cores.

Bobtailing: With all of the cargo pods dropped, we allow the saucer to attach to the engineering section. This makes for a more maneuverable "fighting" ship then the one carrying all of the cargo pods. Prepare for players to make Enterprise jokes (see image below). Silhouette 5, Speed 3, Handling -3, and I kept the ST/HT the same without any issues.

Cargo Pods: You will note on the external view customized spine sections drawing inspiration from Colonial Chrome. Spine sections include extra bunks (to hold all of the "family"), a galley, airlock, and a small command section that provides power & life support. These are dropped at a new mining or salvage site to make a small base that can provide short term life support if the ship bobtails away on an errand or adventure. The pods in my plans include small cargo boxes, large cargo boxes (large doors allow them to double as small garages), and a single liquid container pod. Two of the large cargo boxes can be entered in flight due to the airlock spine section attached to them.

Sturn... What can I say... Awesome!! Many thanks for those, they'll save me a whole load of time! All I'll need to do is swap out the port & starboard refreshers & put airlocks in & I'm ready to go!! Loving the idea of the mobile mining/salvage family as well!

Glad it could help.

There are port/starboard airlocks in the front saucer section at the ends of the long hallway at the back (before the cargo pods). It's the hallway that runs port-starboard with the access panels to the rear docking clamps. These are the primary airlocks when docking with another ship or station.

There are other airlocks as well. There is a ramp that drops below the saucer. That is the main crew/passenger entrance when the ship lands. It's in the aft hallway of the saucer. This area also works as a rear airlock for the saucer when it isn't connected to the engineering section or cargo pods. There are also two airlocks that lead down ladders below the ship or up onto the roof. It may be hard to tell without a key. Dotted circles mean a shaft up. Ignoring the hardpoint gunwells, there are up/down well airlocks towards the rear of the saucer section and in the cargo spine.

If I had more time I would have added a key, sorry.

I squeezed the escape pods into the port and starboard refreshers in the saucer section.

PS: If you need something created at a higher quality let me know.

Loving the idea of the mobile mining/salvage family as well!

It's fun. For an example, here is an image of the family's mining site in a crack on an ice covered planet. If you look close you can see the spine sections and cargo pods being used to make the home with access to a bobtailed Space/Mine Master.

How did I not spot those airlocks??

They're perfectly positioned for what I need as well... When we left it last session my players had just docked & were in the Spacemaster's airlock with the pirate vessel docked underneath the spine... The pirates are already on board, a group looting the cargo pods & another group attacking the crew & trying to gain access to the bridge! I was thinking it was going to be too easy for the players to get to the bridge & rescue the freighter's remaining crew but with this layout they're gonna need to fight on 2 fronts... Or at least watch their backs :)

No need for any more detail either this is ideal for what I need so many, many thanks for this you've saved me loads of time!!

I'm really looking forward to tonight's session, after they've dealt with the pirates & hopefully saved the ship (which'll give them some much needed kudos with the local Hutt Buaku, as it's one from his "legitimate" shipping company, they're off to track down a mad chemist, who avoided capture in about session 3 of this campaign with a deadly virus! Got a feeling it's going to be hectic :)
