Previously, each time you won a match by 1-11 points, you got a modified win. That modified win was worth 3 points out of 5, so it was effectively 3/5ths of a win. Now, you get a full win each time you win a game by 1-11 points.
Previously, each time you ended a match with points equal to your opponent's remaining points, it counted as a tie game. That tie was worth 1 point out of 5 points, or 1/5th of a win. Now, each time this happens you may roll attack dice. Let's assume you win this random and arbitrary event 50% of the time; on average this will result in 1/2 of a win for you, each time this occurs.
This new system is beneficial to an individual player 23 times out of 24. It is a marked improvement 95.8% of the time. You're here to complain about the other 4.2%?

I would much prefer a coin flip instead of this Final Salvo nonsense in the rare situations it matters.

Boo! Last Salvo. It should have been based upon initiative to give that decushion more of a strategic element. This just pushes swarms and further (sightly) devalues agility.

This means Jumpmaster with Punishing One title is only 2 correct? I get that some things such as Jan Ors/Opportunist are obvious modifiers but Punishing One title is a bit more ambiguous (atleast in my opinion).

With dengaroo you can mutually destroy each other alot easier than normal. If I play a tie swarm or crack swarm and we blow each other up which is not crazy hard to imagine with his ability and the pain Droid the game is then decided by me rolling 4 dice against his 10-16??

Why? That's a simple 50/50 chance as opposed to having what's on the table actually count for something.
Sure, but it's still fairly arbitrary. The fact is that you both have exactly the same point cost worth of ships on the table, so I don't see why an advantage should be given to the ship with more printed red dice. It's a pretty random stat to choose. Even just randomly choosing remaining HP would have made more sense, in terms of determining who's winning (imho).
That said, still love the new changes, as a whole.

I'm not claiming this new system is perfect, but it's a VAST improvement over what we had previously. It's the best scoring system we've had to date, and for that, I am grateful.

Any system is going to be somewhat arbitrary... Basing it on HP's, or Shields, or Agility dice would be no different.

No, you're not the only one. Having MoV as the first tiebreaker is just plain stupid, since it favors those who faced weaker opponents. SoS would favor those who faced stronger opponents, which is what should be done at all sensible swiss tournaments.

Its entirely possible (frwquently likely) that ther person who loses that game if you dont ID would be bumped from the cut by someone who ends up with an identical record after that game But better mov. IDs take away that persons chance of making it without even playingSerious question what is the problem with ID'S?
Agree - this makes early losses hurt more, because an ID is a no brainer for someone going into the last round with no losses.

Genuine draw games (both players destroy X amount of points) are pretty rare. In the event of this rare scenario, it will come down to how has more guns remaining, a weighted dice roll.

Yes. I don't believe that the world should be seen as all black and white but that is pretty much how it looks like things are going to be in X-Wing.

Yes, but probably not really.
Some have always argued for SoS except that really punishes you if you get matched up against someone who sucks. You destroy your round 1 opponent who later drops at 0-3 and then destroy your second round opponent who also doesn't win a single other round you've pretty much ruined your SoS while using MoV you've probably given yourself a boost.
With W-L simply being the top decider maybe a running MoV would be a better way to determine tournament standings.
And at least with this way, you actually have a winner, rather than having a modified win. I'd rather take my chance with a die roll, especially one I have some control over, then have a mod win.

It does seem to read that way, but I think they mean you take the total attack value for all ships and roll that many dice. But that's me using RAI rather than RAW.

"each player adds together the printed, unmodified primary weapon value of all ships in his or her squad" is clearly meant to be an alternative to "each player adds together the printed, unmodified primary weapon value of his or her remaining, undestroyed ships"
