This should be a pretty straight forward question (or not), but how does Deadeye interact with Homing Missiles? Does Deadeye only work on ordinance that requires that you spend the TL in order to fire?
The first line of the card states: " You may treat the "ATTACK (TARGET LOCK):" header as '"ATTACK (FOCUS) :"
That part would seem to work with Homing Missiles as they have the Attack (Target Lock) header.
But, the second line confuses the issue: "
When an attack instructs you to spend a target lock, you may spend a focus token instead.
"
So since you are not spending the target lock to fire the Homing Missiles, does it work with Deadeye? Or does the first line of the card stand and you simply need to have a focus token in order to fire without the need to spend it?
If the card just said something like "Convert Attack (Target Lock) to Attack (Focus) , then it would be crystal clear to me that it would work with Homing Missiles as you would just convert the header of the card and then follow the directions on the ordinance card as written. This would mean that you could use Deadeye to take a focus token and fire your Homing Missiles without spending the token to do so (and thus have it to modify the results).
BUT, the example states that you spend the focus instead of spending a target lock when attack instructions tell you to. So what about when they don't? I've looked in the FAQ and didn't find anything that covered this, which is weird since they came out in the same wave.
Any thoughts?
