Seriously. What is with this game's release time?
Though, I guess its not technically a whole year, since Gencon hasn't happened yet?

Get some games in with what we have, in a pretty short period of time those Flotillas will change things up and then after that we get the rest of our toys.
I also have to say I quite like the little gap in waves 3 and 4. Lets me put a pre-order down and pay it off over a few weeks. Very civilised like. ![]()
A year's wait for what? It's been ~7 months since Wave 2 released... Even the advance release with Sullust was in October.
I'm picking up Team Yankee to pass the time. I get in games very rarely since I do not frequent the local game stores. But that's ok!
Personally, I'd rather have two things release every 6 months to...
1) Allow me to enjoy playing with my little ships... Pew! Pew!
2) My wallet will thank me.
3) Allow the meta to quasi-stabilize but change before it gets stagnant.
Armada is a longer game than X-Wing and I like the slower rollout... I'm horrible at X-Wing but I'd like them to try a "Modern" Format (e.g., stuff legal since Force Awakens)... to help newer players get in... there's a lot to know!

I agree, I don't need something every 4 months, the slower release lets everyone have time to explore all the different possibilities.

Quick call Admiral Nelson!
it certainly feels like a year.
I am more pumped about the interdictor then I was for the ISD simply because I did not expect that we would see it so soon.
I remember when games all came in one box. No add-ons no expansions you just played the game.
I can pull out any game I have had for 30 years (example: Battle tech or warhammer 2nd ED.) and still have fun playing it and do all the time. No need or want for new anything.....
Why the need to keep adding more and more to games to want to keep playing them?? Do you really get that board without change all the time? ![]()

And I remember when I used to have to walk to school every day through the snow, barefoot and up hill. Both ways. Even in summer.

This is why I also play Rebellion! Which is brilliant just the way it is and needs no expansions.

Wait for it.....notice how the board only looks like half a galaxy.....

There are calls for expansions to Rebellion. I don't think they'll do expansions.
Regarding the map: it looks that way because there is a large unknown region on the western end of the galaxy. The map looks the way it does for this reason.
That said, I think I would like for there to be expansions, and I can think of some things they could add to it. However, I only think they'll do those expansions if Rebellion proves to be very popular. The jury is still out on that, I think.
Iskander4000, we need to find a day to play Rebellion, man.
I forgot my tag line:
"Armada is dead 2016!!!"
I forgot my tag line:
"Armada is dead 2016!!!"
Only two expansions, a fleet contest and huge tournament support. Dead game
Man, some of you are taking this really emotionally. And not sounding very nice at all.
Also, item 1: People had their stuff from Sullust, which was a long 2 month wait for the rest of us.
item 2: Armada in our area has meta-stabilized extremely strongly, mass squadrons and demsu. Also, except for one region to the north, its completely dead, theres one event every two or three week. One, over a super populated area and a giant geographical region and at least 20 stores that run Xwing or other events.
One Event every 2 Weeks can be seen as extremely healthy. Its what you do with that one event that matters...... I mean, Calgary only has a designated meetup once every 2 Weeks...
Then another store only runs its tournament monthly.
...
We're not the ones complaining, or intimating, that there is "something wrong" with the game for its slower release schedule, after all...
Its more that, its another one of these threads... Some of us feel like we'd just gotten the negativity off the front page... I mean, look, Flotillas are almost any day now, but still... Still there is seemingly 'complaints'....
We see your side of the picture.
Can't you see ours?
Oh man I love the sheer balls it takes to complain that people are reacting negatively to a pointless and negative thread.
"All I did was throw a brick through your window and here you come rushing out, getting all emotional, and frankly sounding rather not nice to me!"
Hmm. I'd say the main problem is that you guys are equating this to mean "something wrong" with your game, when in fact no one's every said anything of the sort. I'll tell you what I think is wrong: Its FFG's really long drawn out delayed release schedule with no PR. I think you're definitely intimating it in your head.
Flotillas were meant to be any day. Atm, we're still not even an announcement in. You're looking at August. I was hoping to play some new Armada ideas through the summer. Now, that's not happening. We've played through Wave2 completely now. Everyone is meta-stabilizied. When I say there's one event, that event is in the upper region, so none of the lower region players have had Armada events for months.
And to be really honest, if its a game you really enjoy, do you really want to play it only once a month? Last I checked, that isn't what I'd call an immersive experience.
Also, honestly, I'm not sure how much Flotillas are going to change the meta. I did get some proxy games in, and although they're really hard to use correctly.. they so far primarily benefit the existing meta: lots of small ships, or mass squadron play.
"This is ridiculous"
Ridiculous is not a positive word. Even not in this context... You set the tone for the Clickbait. We clicked on the Bait. We've taken the Bait. Reel us in! ![]()
" Its FFG's really long drawn out delayed release schedule with no PR. I think you're definitely intimating it in your head. "
Again, with the Negative sentiment. There shouldn't be anything wrong with taking it slow. With guaranteeing supply rather than making a best guess and going. Especially since we already had to deal with the Wave 2 shenanigans... PR is nice, but there's also been plenty of PR. Surprising PR. With competitions, and Previews, and a whole next wave that's right around the corner, too.... They've just learned from the In-store business of the Wave 2 issues, and won't be saying its going to be instore, until they're ****-well sure that its going to be in store........ I prefer that to mis-information.
"Also, honestly, I'm not sure how much Flotillas are going to change the meta. "
Again, negative. Just because you havn't seen it, doesn't mean that it won't... Plus, you're assigning your meta to everyone's meta... I'm sure its the case where you are, because you are being honest - but its not universal. Flotillas are going to mean a bunch of shakeups for my meta, and I am sure my meta is not unique.
So yes, I do jump on the negative posts... because I'd rather be talking about how we're going to use them. Interesting rules interactions. Wether or not they're going to shift the meta for you, or for others... Having your own opinion is okay. Please don't get me wrong on that... You ahve your opinion, and you've shared it...
We're going to share ours right back... Because all of our situations are different....
For Example:
I love Star Wars: Armada.
Star Wars: Armada, is currently the only game I play... Video, Board, Tabletop or Otherwise....
I take Public Transit 2 hours each direction, to go across town, to play my 1 Day every 2 weeks... That 1 day every two weeks, is because I run the league - I can't get out any other time, not even to the other store with its monthy's, because I'm a full-time stay at home Dad for the other 6 days of the week, while my wife works two jobs... They always run their events on Saturdays, where I am unable to attend... I run the league (I won't say my league, because its the league in town... Its the league) on Sundays....
Two hours across town, to get early to the LGS before it opens... To set up Tables for Armada (and X-Wing), to get the mats ready, to maybe play 1, or 2 games if I'm really lucky... But to enable a bunch of other people to come in and play their games without setup time or interruption... To organise a group of people so that when we've got a table spare and 4 unattached members, we're playing a game of Capture the Station... To administer the league where I keep track of wins, losses, and give out those prizes as alt art, both provided from a kit and from my own sourced donations and such...
Then, at the end of the day, I pack it up, and I take that public transit 2 hours back home....
Once, every Two Weeks.
I am Immersed.
I wasn't being sarcastic, for the record: I seriously don't get what you're saying took a year. A year ago, the game was like 3 months old, and, I think, had just dropped wave 1.
So... are you saying you think it's unreasonable that it took a year and a quarter to get the third expansion out...?
Edited by Ardaedhellets see when wave3 actually drops eh? which we have no clue for.
