[Scum] Prince

By janusgeminus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I seem obsessed with the Prince. No, not the music guy, the green one leading the Black Sun.

Without meaning too, I have taken Xizor to all but two tourneys since I started competing in tourneys. I'm by no means am expert. If there's a way to land on a rock or bump a lower PS ship, you better believe I'll take full advantage of that...

What I've been flying puts him at 39 points.

My opinion, and experience is to ignore his pilot ability. If you happen to be in a position to use it, great. But don't fly in formation just so he can use his ability. As a PS9, he needs to be focused on making Soontir sweat.

His weakness is that he had to have juicier targets to attract attention away from the flanks (where I'm going to bring him in) and lack of action economy. In my latest tourney, I took a 60 point Dengar with Xizor. Combined they had a crap ton of red dice. Glitterstem Dengar on the torpedo round, make sure to fire and return fire with torpedoes. Short of having a deci, or other big ship, though, 60 points, especially on a 9hp ship, is to much.

I'm playing around with ideas to give Xizor wingmen that are threatening enough to keep focus off of Xizor, except for when I'm baiting and have him cloaked. Here's a few ideas. I, currently, do not own IG88s (that'll probably change with the next wave), Firespray, YV-666, or the mist hunter (not a fan of 1 agi ships).

I'm thinking about this one a lot. Not sure.

This is a classic, I just wouldn't be flying Xizor in formation. Problem with that, I expect most to not worry with the swarm and focus on Xizor.

I've been considering buying a second toilet seat, so I could do two torpedo boats and Xizor, if I do buy another.

Any other ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

How bout this?

I've been giving Xizor a spin as of lately and netting some good results out of it. But it's been hard to pinpoint a singular build for him.

Easiest part for me has been the choice of illicit: Glitterstim.

Sometimes you just need that extra punch, especially surrounded by heavy fire. I'm not sure if it's a reflex of flying Guri a lot, but having that backup focus seems imperative to me on a ship that wants to CQC but doesn't have access to evade tokens.

Systems Upgrade is a challenge. FCS helps with action-economy, provided Xizor is able to perform as a chaser. But, most of the time, I find myself looking to abuse the Viper's mobility and Adv. Sensors makes flying it a dream. Doesn't hurt that I'm virtually immune to blocks as well.

To me, EPT is the hardest issue and it ends up influencing not only the rest of the kit but the rest of the squad.

VI has been a cheap gambit that pays off against new Imp Aces, but also forces me to go with Advanced Sensors to avoid blocks and abuse Segnor's on tight spots.

Predator makes FCS useless, but also the build itself expensive, since I take Adv. Sensors.

PtL has been kind to me as well and can blend in with both FCS and Adv. Sensors.

Lone Wolf has come up as an alternative whenever I take his effect into consideration and it works in a funny way.

Right now, I'd say that the best partners for Xizor are the Aggressor (preferably with Sensor Jammer) and the bumpmaster. A Z swarm never satisfied me due to lack of punch. Perhaps two TLT thugs might do it.

I like using his ability. I have been having some luck with this list.

I have basically only played against aces lists and done very well. Goal is to get the scout in front to block with slaver behind and keep Xizor behind the slaver and Joust with the opponent. If you get Xizor to the end game he is tough to track down. The reason I like inertial dampeners over Glitterstim is the fact you can Adv sensors Barrel roll before you pop them and really change your position at a key moment in the game.

I'm not particularly a fan of the zed swarm either. Just doesn't pack a solid enough punch to truly discourage people from attacking xizor.

Sounds like I was using the cloaking and SPA for the same effect as you ask using advanced sensors. I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks for the thoughts, so far.
