My Royal Tie Phantom
Hello Force,
Nice and tidy repaint, dont see many of these in Red.
might I make a suggestion though.
If you want to give your model a little more depth, perhaps try giving it an ink wash.
the model will take well as the ink sits in all of the crevices and adds depth and shade to your model.
its really easy and looks effective.
Citadel Nuln Oil Shade looks good on red, and if you wanted to take it a step further.
once the ink is dry, A fine dry brushing of a brighter red to pick out some highlights.
Just a suggestion of course.
Well done and all the best,
Barry
Thanks Barry would that be the same as giving it a black wash with acrylics?
Edited by fistfulofforceYes it would.
The citadel paint is an acrylic base.
Thinned as an ink to wash the model.
In then runs in to all of the nooks an Cranny's of the model.
Giving it depth.....games workshop technique.
You can do the same by thinning black acrylic paint with water.....but the citadel paint works better.
Have fun trying new methods.
All the best.
Barry
Agreed with Barry, needs a wash because the red looks a tad flat.
Wash = liquid skill. Ive painted hundreds of 40k models and when i discovered washes my models suddenly looked 100X better going from "not bad" to "WOW!"
If you arent fond of thinning your paints to wash levels (it can be a bit tricky to get it just right) i'd recommend Agrax Earthshade from Citadel. Its a near-black wash, little more on the gray, and i use it like crazy lol.
For a warmer shade of red, try a mix of Brown and Black wash.
And a wash is not just "thinned down paint", it has more pigment than that. It really is a unique thing.
