I love the firespray and fly it to great success but it could use some new titles, Im betting most wanted 2 will be a Kath painted firespray and a repainted kihraxz.
Is tail gunner a "fix" for the Firespray?
I don't think the Tail Gunner addresses the problems the Firespray currently has - namely that it's fragile to alpha strikes with a weak dial and, ultimately, isn't a Jumpmaster.
It's disappointing for one of the most iconic ships in the game to be so... forgettable.

What would you put in a new title? A second crew slot, possibly with a discount on whatever you equip to it? Could call it "Bounty Transport" or something like that, make it non-unique, and it could come in the same box as the new Scum version of Rebel Captive

Also give it a 6 point cap on the crew so there are no Palpatine issues.

Palps on a Firespray would be AWESOME!!!
I would think the best "fix" for the Firespray would be the tech slot or another crew slot. Either one would make for some great combos. The tech slot would be a HUGE boost in survivability giving the FS the ability to run comm relay. If that were available the FS would immediately make an impact with the Juke+Comm combo. The two crew slots would allow for some flexibility on offense and defense. I would glue Rec spec and tail gunner permanently to my FS's I think. But you could go all out D with Issard and recspec. Or maybe put weapons engineer on for a nice offensive boost along with LRS. I'm hoping for one of those two options from a new title.

K4 plus Rec. Spec with PTL? Green to clear your stress, get a TL, take evade and focus for your actions.

I've actually found double proton bombs on a vi scum kath to be quite useful and so much fun when people forget

And on ANY other ship, it would cost 3 points or more... MAYBE 2 because it can be difficult to trigger all the time (speed 3+), but really, it would be expensive. The precedent for a Free Action that is in addition to your regular action and you can use the turn you gain it is 3 points. It's -2 on the Defender because the Defender was terrible.

While that would be nice I don't think it gives it the boost that tech or extra crew would give.
The only way to fix Firesprays is to nerf arc dodgers out of the meta. Then Firesprays would be on top. Thing with firesprays is that they have large blind spots that when up against a Soontir, Inquisitor or even Vader the Firespray would be scrap before it was ever given a chance to shoot.

That's why I would love comm relay. It would give it that extra toughness to go at the Ace's.

Have been featured on tournament winning squads. Really, the least bad Firespray builds are at PS10, at which point Proton Bombs definitly get their value. Don't be caught up in the dogmatic "Munitions are terrible, therefor bombs are terrible."

Protons are too expensive and if you miss they are REALLY expensive. Might as well take seismics and then you can have two for cheaper then one proton.
At PS10 you virtually never miss with Protons and they are excellent tech against PS9 Whisper and PS8 (10, too, if you pack an initiative bid) Corran. Especially Corran, who will just outregen the primary of a Firespray. Seriously, look it up, on the more recent instances of Firespray tournament play it was usualy scum Boba featuring Protons. Of course, that was wave 7, but the possibility can't be discarded. Of course Proton bombs aren't the only thing, just the most flashy and fun! Emon for example can use Slave 1 to load 2 cheap Conner Nets. Doubling up on Seismics can be good, although you'd probably also want to duplicate a missile to justify EM. I think Kath Scarlet is a better choice than Boba.. The extra dice seems to be more consistent than a reroll if someone is at range one. The sad part is that Boba should be the top dog and he really isn't.
For me I would like to see boost on Bobas action list and only his. Back to toppic..

protons are pretty **** expensive
worse, they can do effectively jack **** over a seismic depending on which crit you draw
if you want to screw with bombs, imo you want thermals
thermals set up your opponents for devastating rear arc shots
problem with thermals (and protons) is you don't really have the option to just self bomb for fun and profit, because you're eating the risk of a stress/faceup
a single damage from seismic is nothing in comparison, especially if you're in a situation such as this
