I wonder if that will work. Kanan pilot with dorsal turret.
Tail gunner on the Ghost.
It doesn't. It doesn't have a rear auxiliary arc, it has a special arc.
iirc the ghost's rear arc isnt an "auxiliary arc" its a special arc with its own rules.
What about when the shuttle is docked ? Is it still a 'special' arc then ?
Cheers
It is always a special arc. The title only allows it to be used by the primary now.
Dang it. There I go thinking again. Ugh.
I stayed quiet hoping I was wrong.
Really dumb to have to spend points on a Phantom to keep it docked for a rear arc.
Would've been cool to just pay 2 points for a Tail Gunner
Tail Gunner never works with a special arc.
Tail Gunner, and Kath Scarlet.. mmm.. 4 dice, - 1 agility
Nope!
A "special arc", is an "auxiliary arc" that has certain conditions attached to it that can change its function.
It functions normally as an "auxiliary arc" whenever it fires a secondary weapon (missile) out the rear.
What makes it a "special arc", is when the attack shuttle(Phantom) is attached to the Ghost, it allows the shuttle's guns to act as a primary weapon attack firing out the rear of the Ghost. It still acts as an auxiliary arc.
The Ghost/Phantom 'title card' also allows the Ghost's secondary weapon (turret), to fire a second attack during the "End" phase.

thats what i was thinking and at range 1........

Yeah, you got that in the rules anywhere?

I checked the original Ghost docs, and pretty much says that...Torpedoes only in special arc [and primary arc, obviously], Primary waepon can only use standard arc...unless...the Phantom card references the "special arc" as becoming available when shuttle docked for primary Ghost attacks...

The name of the arc is "special arc". Just because it acts like the auxiliary arc, doesn't make it into one. Tail Gunner never works with the Ghost.

Not according to the written rules.
It does look like a "Special" firing arc is different than an "Auxiliary" firing arc. I can't find a place it is explicitly stated, but the way it is always differentiated in the FAQ (Such as on Outmaneuver, P. 16 specifically stating a "Special" arc as something different from an "Auxiliary") makes me think that it is separate and therefore does not work with the "Auxiliary" wording on the Tail Gunner card.
would've been funny, which tbf is probably why they specified rear firing arc
imagine a TLT
Ghost/Phantom
. A potential four shots at some poor bastard with -1 agility against every shot
sad it doesn't work on the YV-666, though. I mean, it has aux arcs but they're not "Rear-facing"
Man, the Firespray would love Tail Gunner.

The party bus has enough love.

by contrast
there's always room on the party bus for more love
small thing now, there's no reason for Tail Gunner to be limited
it's literally just the spray and the ARC that can take this baby, and they only have one crew slot
so....
start speculating for Wave 10, everyone!
Multi-crew, rear arc goodness? A super SF tie (like the tie punisher compared to the tie bomber). Multiple crew, rear arc--lots of shenanigans.
Tail Gunner, and Kath Scarlet.. mmm.. 4 dice, - 1 agility
no K4 no Dengar
Doesn't sound remotely close to good deal
Do you suppose there's any way a mobile arc, as per the Shadowcaster, could have wording to ever make use of it ?
...so 'rear gunner' kinda becomes 'turret gunner' granting the bonus outside of the primary arc ?
Again, a Mobile Arc will be separate from an Auxiliary arc and Special arc. Not likely.
