So, um... how am I supposed to fly Scum Kath?

By f0rbiddenc00kie, in X-Wing

For reals though. Tailgunner + Outmaneuver...kath flyby's will be a pain in the butt (literally). Anything she fires at that isnt looking at her will be -2 agi, -1 otherwise lol

Believe me when I say stacking -agility abilities is not a good idea. There is a reason Wedge + BB8 + Outmaneuver isn't a thing. It's because you will feel like a fool the moment you face Double Decis or Double VCX-100s.

Fly straight, then take a hard turn. That forces the enemy to chase Kath, while you bank away and light 'em up with that rear arc.

Kath pairs very well with fighters or arc dodgers. My favorite list to fly is Kath escorted by 2 Black Sun Enforcers. Kath is durable and hits hard. The Starvipers are unpredictable, hit hard, and (at PS 1) can also make for great blockers. The Starvipers force the action where you want it to be. Typically my opponents try to stay clear of my Starvipers and go after Kath first. What ends up happening is Kath gets her rear arc shot round after round and the Starvipers flank and attack unopposed.

**Tail Gunner is about to make this list even more dangerous!**

I thought it was because predator is better?

You're right though, I want so much for Outmaneuver to be a top EPT, but one of it's weaknesses are the large ships that it doesn't affect at all.

This may sound strange, but don't be afraid to K-turn a Firespray (even Kath) every so often.

The rear firing arc is great for a while, but sooner or later you'll approach the board edge, or even worse a corner. Sprays have a tendency to get pinned up against the corners, giving ships chasing them the chance to cut the corner on the Firespray's maneuver, providing unopposed shots at their flank.

Engine upgrade can help, as can carefully-placed corner asteroids, but it doesn't entirely fix the issue. An occasional K-turn, even taking the stress, action loss, and Kath's less powerful attack into account, is still preferable to not getting a shot at all.

I'm kind of at a loss as to what the best way to joust with her is, what to do after joust, and how to use her in a list. I mean, yeah, she can snipe, but then she keeps drifting away from the action. Her rear firing specialization is just so different. Using her with Expert Handling (aka doing barrel roll with greens every turn to "hover" in place), while sounding both easy to use and funny, makes me wonder if that specific build is more of a gimmick than anything. Remember, I'm not so much asking for build advice as I am for flying advice. So please... how do I fly scum Kath?

moons guide to kath:

Mmm! Mmm, mmm, mmm

Oooh-OOOH!

Shake ya ass, but watch yourself

Shake ya ass, show me what you workin with

Shake ya ass, but watch yourself

Shake ya ass, show me what you workin with

engine upgrade obv. recommended for maximum booty arc shake

Tail gunner and over shoot. Hey take 6 red dice.

Daredevil.

She loves it. You'll love it.

I know you didn't ask for list advice, but I think the list can help a lot. Kath benefits from people chasing her. If the opponent prefers to go after your other ships first, it will be hard to keep Kath relevant. I would suggest pairing her with difficult to hit ships that may entice your opponent to try to focus down Kath first. Dengar with EU can arc-dodge and IG is just miserable to bring down. Both ships may lead to your opponent wanting to chase Kath.

As others have said, a K-turn in the opponents face is a good strategy. The opponent is set up to chase Kath and even if they try to turn around themselves, will often take another solid rear shot from Kath.

I didn't have a list listed because I don't know any better, and I want to see what you guys come up with. Like what you mentioned. That... that is helpful. It gives me an idea of how to pair her and how flying her on my team influences my opponent's decisions. Thank you.

Tail Gunner

So, um... how am I supposed to fly Scum Kath?

Indeed. There's some argument for setting up opposite an enemy squad then pulling a K-turn in the first round - instantly putting them in a position where they're chasing her; exactly where she likes to be.

K4 security droid is nice, but Dengar is as good nine times out of ten. The one thing to keep your eye on (once the next wave rolls around) is a Predator/Tail Gunner combination.

It's called:

The Monty Python Stratagem

it works like this:

giphy.gif

Your supposed to fly her backwards.

This.

More specifically, you're supposed to fly her backwards while playing "Shake Dat Thing' obnoxiously loud and twerking in front of your opponent.

Also don't forget its almost mandatory that you repaint the model her colors before you fly her! Dont anger the redhead, repaint it!

...and always wear protection.

Put tail gunner on her when it come out. 5 Dice with -1 to their green is Tasty!!!!!

-2 to green if you give her outmaneuver for ept

Thanks for all the info guys! Very helpful. :)

Putting all the information I can find this this thread and others, I think I've settled on what are the top picks for each slot.

CREW: Dengar - allows you to K-turn with mods that K4 does not allow. K4 only if running PTL or Expert handling

EPT: VI / PTL / Outmanuever and a shout out to Expert Handling for the lulz

MOD: always EU

BOMBS: at least one to zone people out and punish chasers

I played a friend wit a pretty nasty Boba/Kath list.

Kath had VI, EU, Dengar, ID.

Boba had Adaptability, 4-Lom, Slave 1, Homing missiles, extra munitions, chips, stim, seismics.

Lots of intentional bumping and self bumping to keep them getting shots on my ships.

Once tail gunner comes out, this could be a solid list.

Kath Scarlet (Scum) — Firespray-31 38

Predator 3

Tail Gunner 2

Glitterstim 2

Engine Upgrade 4

Ship Total: 49

Dengar — JumpMaster 5000 33

Adaptability 0

Tactician 2

R5-P8 3

Inertial Dampeners 1

Punishing One 12

Ship Total: 51

I use Kath a lot. I use engine upgrade, push the limit, and K4 Security Droid. A hard 3 and then you hit the green 1 maneuvers to gain the Target Lock, combine focus and push the limit to boost keeping the enemy in the rear arc. It works well and combined with Dengar, Kath gets a free run most of the time.. With Dengar I use Punishing One, Marksmanship, Unhinged Astromech, and the K4 Security Droid. Dengar'so only action is Marksmanship. The green moves added by the Astromech allows him to flank after his first joust.

His double firing makes him the prime target leaving Kath to do the greater amount of damage. Trust me it is a fun build.

Did that. She even has a hot pink stand for more battlefield bling.

Kath has been one of my scum favorites to fly. Tailgunner was going to be an obvious addition, but I glad to get even more new ideas from this thread. Thanks, all!!

HLC to make her four attack up front and back, rec specialist for dice modifications and k4 so you get TL from green moves.

Joust and then just fly past them, try to get them at range one behind you for a five dice focus+tl shot.

I've used this before it murdered brobots.

Putting two crew on a Furryspray?

Teach me, master! :D

I want to do it as well. Might make FS a good ship after all

That's some illuminati magic right there.

It takes a high level lizard person to have the "real" Kath card.

The one with two crew, and I hear it has barrel roll as well.

I've flown Kath quite a bit with Adrenaline Rush, EU and Rec Spec. Just fly her straight at your opponent and then K-turn, use AR, get your two focus tokens from Rec Spec and then wiggle that arse to your heart is content.

Most people forget about AR, so when you do drop it and get your action they're a bit miffed.

But there are a lot of good Kath builds out there, just experiment.

Cheers
