Ryad's Rogues

By Green Doo, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have had really good time running this list lately, winning half of matches with this.

TIE Defender: · Countess Ryad (34)

Push The Limit (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

TIE/x7 (-2)

TIE Fighter: · "Backstabber" (16)

TIE Fighter: Black Squadron Pilot (14)

Crack Shot (1)

Swarm, Backstabber & Ryad each move around individually. I am keeping Backstabber and Ryad but I am not sure about swarm.

Backstabber is a great bait and was usually destroyed first. Although some games where I played him a bit more conservatively he was able to do those 4 red dice attacks.

Ryad is just superfun and I have lost her just once after a major brainfart left her actionless.

I think that miniswarm may be worth of its points being able to deliver some damage and also helping with blocks and setting up actionless targets for Ryad and Backstabber.

Have you tried three ship swarm before? Do you feel it packs enough punch to be a real threat or is tie fighters "thing" in numbers?

The list is decent

Engine Ryad can handle a lot of things 1v1, but tends to do less well when there's lots of enemy ships with the opportunity to focus fire on her (crack swarms in particular can be devastating if you're not careful)

So if you can use all your ships to thin the enemy numbers early on and keep Ryad relatively safe, then you should do fine.

A nice little Defender swarm. I'm liking.

Other option is to take Tie Mk II instead - but with all her greens she might not need it.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have managed to win two matches I played after the post and I feel confident this is my next tournament list. Still no experience how it would do against U-Boats, luckily local meta isn't full of them.

I don't own Tie Mk II so unfortunately it's not an option. That would leave enough points to take Howlrunner in swarm but I feel Ryad's engine help open options for repositiong next turn and three crack black's are almost as good.

Swarm is doing great job in initial alphastrike and Ryad's maneuvering abilities are grazy good. Usually opponent have to focus on tie fighters first as they tend to be closer which I am okay, they are just 15pts per piece. That has left expensive Ryad relatively safe to do her 3/4 dice attacks. Backstabber is the most hard part of this list to fly properly as I tend to push him too aggressively forward, but I am getting there to master him too.

Overall I feel list has good balance of offence and defence and most importantly, it's is really fun list to fly!
