Ordering Star Wars Rpg books at B&N

By beltaurb, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was just wondering if anyone else is having difficulty getting Barnes & Noble Bookstores to get FFG Star wars rpg books in. They carry the line but the last few books have been like trying to get candy from a baby.

I have been back and forth all month to get them to order Savage Spirits but they say the book doesn't exist. I have told them to look it up online but they don't. How would you go about getting them to get them in stock.

I have a local hobby store but they tend to only want to try to order if your a regular or if it's the card game type stuff.

I'd just go to Amazon or Miniature Market or some online retailer like that then.

I'm pretty sure B&N doesn't directly stock RPG books. They have always had trouble sorting out what to stock, in what quantity, and what to do with all the old stock in an edition change. So getting RPG supps from them takes longer because they are more of a middle man and not so much an actual active vendor.

When did taking candy from a baby become difficult?

Aside from the baby/candy statement, I think the rest can be easier.

The ASIN is 1633442446. Ask them to order the book. If they don't, or give you further headaches, stop worrying about it. All retailers thrive on customer feedback; simply tell them that if they cannot (read: will not) order for you, you will get the book from amazon.com for less than retail (if an Amazon Prime member).

Here's the link for you, too:

Clearly you haven't met mine....

I bought mine from B&N online. It was cheaper than what I found on Amazon. The local B&N store stocks 4 or 5 ffg star wars books, but that's about it.

Demanding that a low paid employee look something up online because it isn't in their system isn't going to get you anything. They don't control the ordering system, so even if they did find evidence of the book online, that doesn't allow them to order it within B&N's system.

So, if they can't order it, then go somewhere else.

If you have internet access, which the OP does, look it up on the B&N website yourself.

The stores and their website use the same system.

Thanks for all the responses. As to why not order online, no credit card due to being on disability, RPG are my one thing to give me something to do. The funny thing about all this is that 2 days before the book was ready to order they had it listed on their website but when I went in to order they could not preorder it. Now looking on their website they have a listing for the Force Awakens box set, says on the net it can be preordered but stopped in and they said non in the warehouse, thus cannot be preordered. It's like they don't have an ideal what preorder is for.

Yet they have no problem preordering stuff in the D&D 5e line months before it hits shelves.

As for taking candy for a baby that was a brain fart. Glad it was enjoyed.

Also I didn't demand that they look it up on the net I only suggested because they have done it for me in the past.

Sales for it are a few orders of magnitude larger than FFG and more likely to be added to distributor databases resulting in them being orderable. They also probably commit to release dates, which makes it easier to anticipate orders and shipments, which is good for customer satisfaction.
