Knockback Shot knocks target into engaged or..?

By Freiduin, in WFRP Rules Questions

The action card "Knockback Shot" states the following:

*S* You hit the target for -2 damage. The target moves back one range increment, either from engaged to close range, or from close range to medium range.

*C* You may choose where the target moves.

My latest session the Comet effect was triggered, and everyone was confounded as to what it actually meant. Comet effects are usually very very good effects, but I just don't get what this effect does.

Could it be that the comet allows you to place the target in a group at the new range he is knocked back into (effectively making him engaged to that group)..? That would be a pretty good effect i guess, under certain circumstances. I honestly haven't got a clue... Any suggestions?

I take this as meaning you get to dictate where they get knocked back to within that range bracket. Consider if you will fighting on the ramparts of a castle. The results could be taken as:

*S* You push your target back along the ramparts from engaged to close range.

*C* You push your target back from engaged to close range, OVER the ramparts.....time for an agility test me thinks. :)

Just my thoughts.
