Gosh I wouldn't want to face that list...I'd love to know how it goes if you try it, I think the low PS may cause some issues.
Tbh, you'd be better off with 3 x7's. Bombers and ordnance in general are too unreliable.
In another post I postulated this list:
- Scimitar, concussion, chips, EM. x2
- Delta, x7. x2
I need to try it sometime.
Edited by Thrawn86It has some merit - only thing I'd say is once the bombers get ordinance off they'll melt fast to Ace predators.
I was playing around with this variation:
x2 Onyx Defenders: Tie x/7 + tie Mk II
x2 Scimitars: Plasma + Guidance Chips
Fly in a tight formation, focus/evade the Defenders every turn to tank up and take some initial hits and then get ordinance off.
Edited by Imperial MikeI have a feeling that the only problem with LRS is that after initial shooting you won't get another TL (either you need to do a K turn which gets you out of range 3 and back in the right range, but you are stressed OR you never get there...) hence you won't get the second shot.
Hence, I would suggest to go with Guidance chips or drop EM for some other stuff (Ion Bombs, etc.)

While I'm all about the triple x7s at this point, I think there's merit in a couple of them with a couple bombers. The LRS Homing Missiles bomber in particular can be used for some pretty effective control vs. an enemy ace. Since you've taken the TL and telegraphed the target, it can be extremely effective for "herding" an ace to where the Deltas want it to be.
One thing I've considered with similar lists is getting another low PS blocker in there for the 21 points so the deltas can get guns on target when the HM bomber does its herding. A STP with autothrusters and protons might be fun with its extra burst threat, or go with the classic autothruster alpha. The 3rd blocker also minimizes the issue that SaszaPL brings up about getting a 2nd lock. Having two ships that have a large restriction on their target locks is going to be a lot tougher to bring around for another pass. With just one, it will either get out and back for a 2nd shot, or it'll soak 2-3 shots before dying while the rest of your list goes to town.
