Timing change Question?

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

A friend of mine, Summed it up this way. when talking about timing for FCS and other cards that happen after the attack.

All attacks that attack more than once, TLT, Cluster Missiles, etc. Now count as a single attack instead of two separate attacks. So once both of those attacks are done, then you get to use those cards.

Trying to explain this to my younger son and some others at the store.

I think this actually sums up the entire timing change. I know there are more specific cases, but basically this is what it does, correct?

Thanks,

Uhg...there's so much more.

First of all, the multi attack becoming one attack are only for "perform this attack twice" effects. Other things like the TIE/D title, BTL-A4 title, and other multiple attack cards that resolves in the after attack sequence.

Here's what the timing thing changed

1. Perform this attack twice - now "one" attack and both before the after attack phase

2. Ships not removed as dead until the final step of attack

3. Non attack "after attack" triggers happen first and in initiative order THEN triggers that cause an attack also in initiative order

4. Should prolly have been #1 - "Target" becomes "Defender" after you pay for attack for example with blaster turret or other munitions. This stops R4 Agromech from triggering on a weapon payment.

Edit: If you're asking just about the interaction between those two cards. Like TLT(perform this attack twice) and FCS(after attack trigger) then yes, the attack is just one attack and after attack triggers are after both attacks. Its essentially one attack with multiple small shots that happen simultaniously. Imagine shooting someone with a buckshot shotgun and rolling the dice for each pellet that comes out.

an easy way to keep it straight is if its a "perform this attack twice" then anything that procs off of the attack (tactician, vader, pilot abilities, etc) it ONLY happens after the 2nd attack. You still spend Targetlocks/Focus/Evades on each attack though.

If you get a 2nd attack entirely, as in from Gunner or Tie/D title for example, that behaves like a normal attack and triggers everything again. They can also be on different targets, while "Perform this attack twice" cannot.

Far as i know the only ability or card or anything that still procs twice in a "perform this attack twice" is Vessery's ability, since his is after he rolls attack die and completely different. Though unless you see him with clusters for some weird reason you wont ever come across that debate.
