Rewarding the Face

By Ian2400, in Game Masters

Hello! Currently working on making an adventure module that will reward the PCs with rare items (particularly of the force-related nature) and am trying to come up with something to reward the face of the group with. He likes being the face and being good at talking/dealing with NPCs, but isn't force sensitive (otherwise I'd hand him stuff to make influence better, probably). There aren't a ton of things in the books that help with these sorts of checks. Has anyone found ways to reward the face of their group with that they liked?

A superior tailored suit that assists charm? A title to boost influence? An NPC brute bodyguard for intimidation? Just thinking outside the box a little.

A protocol droid that briefs him on a particular group's social strengths and weaknesses prior to an encounter which grants a Boost die or something.

'They're well versed in over 6 million culture's social mores'

The Kamperdine armoured jacket from Fly Casual (I think) would be a good choice. Desperate Allies also has some good stuff, like Expensive Jewelry, Cultural Etiquette Manual and various outfits.

Desperate Allies and Strongholds of Resistance are the only books I don't have yet. Good to know the gear is not just guns and ships.

Contacts and supply lines. Not every reward needs to be mechanical. Strong allies that will get the PC what they need when they need it most could be a much better reward the a boost die on a specific check.

Love the idea of a protocol droid. That fits nicely with what I'm planning, I think. Going to take a bit of legwork but I think it'll be worth it. I did reward him with the expensive jewelry earlier, I forgot about all the other social items in that book though. Gonna put those in the ol' back pocket...

Thanks everyone! Giving me lots to mull over.

The MerenData KLC Series Exchequer Droid is on p56 of Enter the Unknowns and gives 2 boost dice to negotiation rolls, as well as being a decent protocol droid in its own right.

Sounds like it might be just perfect.

I'mean pretty sure it's in far horizons not fly casual

Ended up going with putting the plans for a droid which functions just like the Exchequer Droid on a Sith Holocron they get, with some narrative justification. He already has expensive jewelry (although its somewhat paltry at 2k credits, but it makes sense that items dont boost social much) as well as the lecter's jacket.

You might also try clothing/armor from desperate allies (banal aparrel over second skin armor... to help some he conned not pick him out of a crowd) or super crafted "reinforced clothing" from keeping the peace... soak 2, defense 1/1, a "special embellishment" and a hard point to add superior armor customization to get him up to soak +3... all coming from clothing. Special modifications also have a cybernetic implant that grants a free rank in a general skill (pick a social skill) and it can be upgraded to make it ion shielded. The implant could be fluffed as a heads up display on his eyeball that tells him the target's physiological reaction (are they excited or lying etc.)
