Ghost title...what exactly is going on there?

By Pewpewpew BOOM, in X-Wing

Given that we have no generic Attack Shuttles, I think it's safe to assume that the stat line reflects the modifications specific to the Phantom, whether you assign the title or not. A standard version would probably have at best 2 attack, probably more like 0 and something akin to Anti-pursuit lasers for a small ship. Hera modded the shuttle for her ship to better serve as a weapon for an insurgency.

Good idea! I'm also hoping that the Ghost was heavily modified like the the Falcon. It bothers me somewhat that a freighter can out maneuver TIE Fighters in Rebels. Just doesn't seem right.

At this point, it seems Corellia has a freaking monopoly on rebel and scum loved freighters

I've not really watched the show, but the rear-firing torpedo has me the most curious.

Is there a time when they shoot a proton torpedo backwards. Or did FFG just pull that mechanic out of a hat?

CEC are the oldest shipyards and nearly everything they make has mod options.

I mean what other brand of Light Freighter could you or would you buy?

SFS (Sienar Fleet Systems) or KDY (Kuat Drive Yards)?

KDY's main products are Star Destroyers and various smaller warships like the Arquitens-class light cruiser. SFS's focus is on churning out TIEs by the millions. Though Sienar also makes the Lambda-class shuttle and Sentinel-class landing craft, which are pretty much light freighters given that they're small hyperdrive-equipped ships with similar cargo capacity to a YT-1300.

Kuat made plenty of Light Freighters, Yachts, and similar scale craft

other freighter companies that pop up from time to time in the "Legends-verse" and which I would like to see/make custom X-wing Minis include (links to Wookiepedia):

  • Ghtroc , notably built the Class 720 which compared favorably to the YT-1300, but suffered from a complicated engine layout that made repairs and modification difficult
  • Mon Cal Shipyards built all kinds of starships including the MC-18 light freighter. The Mon Cala built their products to order, so they're not exactly commonplace.
  • Hoersh -Kessel Drive was known for its courier ships which would probably be a size class below light freighter and might be comparable to CEC's HWK-290. I would expect some of these to see use by smugglers and other scum.
  • Kuat Systems Engineering (a subsidiary of KDY) had some success with the Wayfarer-class which was labelled a "medium transport" when you include the interchangeable cargo pod. Not counting the pod though it's comparable in size to the YT-1300 and YV-666 so I put it in this list.
  • Sienar Fleet Systems built civilian transports before they went all in on Imperial TIE fighters and shuttles.
  • bonus point for the startup Kazellis-class freighter which was well received for its comfortable accommodations and good stock engines. The company supposedly failed due to political unrest on the headquarters planet.

Far as I can tell Correllian Engineering Corporation's success can be attributed to building relatively durable ships with good engines that come in a variety of configurations and stand up well to extensive modification. Then factor in that CEC is the oldest active ship builder at the time of OT and the largest primarily civilian ship builder so they can build so many freighters that they're going to be everywhere regardless of whether or not people buy them.

Autolaster turret is way more fun on Ghost in this Empire Aces meta.

I'm pretty sure the only episode where the Ghost has fired torpedoes at all didn't even air till way after the ship was announced. I think the torpedoes out the rear is solely so they can justify it as a "special" arc rather than an auxiliary arc that you can fire all the time.
