Dengar/Zuckuss Good?

By Sylidian, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Dengar = Title + PTL + K4 (crew) + Unhinged Astromech + Glitterstim + Engine Upgrade

Zuckuss = Title/Tractor Beam + Expose + 4-LOM + Advanced Sensors + Glitterstim + Experimental Interface

100pt

6 dice at range 1 with Zuckuss + Expose/Pilot Ability seems legit. But there is always room for improvements? I have pretty much all upgrade cards. (no huge ships)

how are you going to get into range one with Zuckuss? If the opponent wants, he blows zuckuss up at range three. the G1A is overpriced for a 1 agility ship and giving him a bunch of fancy, expensive upgrades makes him cost 2x as much. Dengar is good, Zuckuss, not so much. Expose is terrible.

want to offer him some suggestions? lol, dont shred the mans list and not offer any help. you seem knowledgeable enough to give BENEFICIAL criticism....

Buckero0, I struggle to find a place for zuckuss on any of my lists. i want to play him so bad, but he costs so much that its hard to put him in an effective list. with that being said, if you look on list juggler there are several people who have done very well flying zuckuss and two contracted scouts. the G1A starfighter is a ship that is effective when flown well. so if you want to put him in lists, practice a lot! catch people off guard! thats what i do with my ghost!

Lastly, because zuckuss will be blown up fairly quickly, you really should run him as cheaply as possible. like Zuckuss w/ VI, Outlaw tech. you wont really need to barrell roll and tractor beam is not even worth the one point right now. I hope this helps! Fly ships!

what if I put the cloak instead of glitterstem? I could always advanced sensors evade/cloak if I don't have a good shot? Thanks for the advice though!

scum cloaking is so janky right now lol, it is not worth the points. i really think Zuckuss is best served on a cheap platter. I would at the most go 4LOM, VI, Outlaw Tech. you need to understand that the G1A is not an agile ship. it wont be around long enough to utilize all the cool stuff you want to do with it. also, because it isnt agile (nor is your j5k) you need to have room for a maneuverable ship. with those two ships, you are vulnerable to the whole entire meta. double lothal will outlast and outshoot you, palp aces will fly circles around zuckuss then finish dengar, triple u boats will eat zuckuss on first round and pick away at dengar when presented with good shots. dash and lothal rebel will also beat this list. if you are flying casual, then try it out and see! if you want to be competitive, this is not the list. you need to make room for a 3rd ship. also, consider 4LOM as a pilot. his ability plays directly into his dial. it is not dependent upon anything other than flying the ship! stress folks out, they become predictable, blow them out of the sky.

Yeah, as everyone else has said; Zuckuss is very good if kept cheap-ish:

33 Zuckuss w/ VI, K4, MistH, Tractor.

4/5 dice double modified shots are deadly as is. You don't need to waste more points trying to get him up to 5/6 dice. The points can be better spent elsewhere.

As for pairing with PtL-Dengar, I'm not sold on Zuckuss as a wingman. He's at an awkward cost where you're either spending too much on him, or you have a heap of points left over that aren't enough for another ship. Currently I've been running the YV-666 as support for Dengar, and I'm loving it:

56 Dengar w/ PtL, K4, Unhinged, Engine, Title.

42 Slaver w/ Gunner, Bossk, Tactician, Engine.

2 Initiative.

2pt initiative bid so Dengar can move after Soontir and other 9's, plus the dreaded slaver as support for Dengar. Slaver is your early game anvil that has a few tricks (0-stops, and fast move + boosts), with Dengar winning the late-game. Currently 6-0 with this particular iteration (Tried with none-engine Latts before, and she was OK-ish).
