Niantec's previous game, Ingress, is basically the same thing sans Pokemon and they use the map data from it to determine things in Pokemon go. Players in Ingress could create sites but that's not possible anymore.

That's too funny about the virtual real estate. I'm friends with one of my old realtors as she was really cool. She's older and was asking me what the heck Pokemon Go was. I told her that she might actually find it easier to sell houses if they were close to Pokestops and gyms!

As a side note, the trip to Ellis Island was a bust for Pokemon. There were zero Pokemon on the island. The cell signal was so bad that it made the game almost unbearable to even get pokestops. There was free wifi, but it was not very good and placed you in weird spots. There was a gym, but I couldn't really battle there as the signal was so weak. Bleh.

Statue of Liberty was better, though. There were a rare Pokemon or two on the island and the signals for the Poke stops were fine. Also, two gyms, but they were both Blue and I couldn't challenge them.

I did hit a lot of pokestops and get over 100 balls.

Today, I finally got my Eevee evolved to the next level. I got a fire version and it's my most powerful Pokemon.

It would be fun if the pokemon on Coney Island were all fighting type.

Real life bird watchers must be laughing at Pokemon Go players ... they were walking around looking at cute little animals before it was cool.

It saddens me a bit when I read how excited people are to go outside (sometimes with their kids) just to catch Pokemon. Yes, it's great they are going outdoors, experiencing nature, meeting people, exercising, etc. But the fact it took a cutesy mobile game to achieve this doesn't speak highly of our society.

There are infinity plus awesome things to see and do in the natural environment, there are people to meet in every nook and cranny of this globe, 'the outside' is often just a few steps away for us .. but we seemed to have no interest until a game cam long that 'encourages' this exploration.

I don't watch birds, but deer and roe however... .

Having had it installed now, for the past few days, I can't say I'm very impressed yet. I'll give it another week so my wife can see what it's all about and how to best use it for marketing purposes for her job, but then it's off I think.

Sometimes it takes something to knock people out of their routine. It may be that Pokemon Go is gone in a year, but some people will still enjoy being outside in that year. So, don't knock the mechanic that gets people out the door. It's still getting them out the door. I did read an article about some teen with depression and anxiety what used P. Go to get out of the house. She said it's really helped her overcome her anxiety. Not only does she have fun with the game, but she enjoys being outside for the first time in years.

There are other people who always did go outside, too. They now have extra reasons to go outside, which is good.

Having had it installed now, for the past few days, I can't say I'm very impressed yet. I'll give it another week so my wife can see what it's all about and how to best use it for marketing purposes for her job, but then it's off I think.

The game can be really buggy. I don't think they expected the response they did. At first it was not enough servers. At peak hours it was really hard to do anything in the game. I think that was around 8-9pm that I saw it. They have been adding servers and it helps.

There are also times it just bugs out. They are working on various patches and things. The worst is when you catch a Pokemon in a ball and it freezes on the ball. I will say that it's been happening less and less often. I think they are working on it.

Last, there are log in problems. We got to Manhattan and half the day we couldn't log in. It seems that they branched out to some new countries and hackers in these countries bombarded the login servers with Denial Of Service attacks. So, many people couldn't log in.

Overall, the stability has improved over the week that I've played. Well, except that DOS attack.

Wow, sounds like some unimpressed people. That makes sense, though. I used to love Battlefront, but I've cooled off from it now. X-wing is way better. Who knows how long I'll stick with Pokémon GO. The winters in the North will be the real test for trainers. By the time the snow comes, I'll probably be enjoying the tropical world of Pokémon Moon more than Pokémon GO.

But for now, it's totally awesome! I got some good training and battling in at the hotel's gym this weekend. Team Mystic held it for quite a while. Also, I finally got all three Eevee evolutions, which just makes my heart sing. I can't wait to go to go out in another excursion. Deliberately heading out to catch Pokémon is way better than doing it on your way somewhere, or turning the game on every 30 minutes at your home.

I finally captured a gym this weekend. We had to look up what types of Pokemon are good vs. what. Turns out we need to advance our Grass Pokemon to fight all these Water Eevees out there.

Back at work and there is a gym that I can reach from the breakroom. It's currently Red, but it will soon be Blue.....

Turns out my work isn't just home to two stops, but also a gym, I'll check that one out sometime later this week, during the evening shift when the building is mostly empty.

Well....the gps gets weird when I'm in the building. I should be able to reach the gym from one break room, but I am just out of reach. No matter how I go to get closer, it just won't register where I really am. Same for a Poke stop. So, there are 2 stops and 1 gym. I can hit 1 Poke stop by walking that way, but it's a bit out of the way.

I did attack that gym yesterday and spent A LOT of my healing stuff on my guys. I did capture it at one point and grabbed my 10 coins. I think it changed hands at least 10 times yesterday.

There is a gym at my neighborhood's pool and it was a big swim meet last night. I was looking forward to taking it with my son, but by the time we got there and set up and all that, Blue team took it already. So, we stocked it with all our Pokemon. I was looking forward to getting my coins this morning....but Yellow took it back some time after 10pm. Bleh.

There is an old cemetery about a block beyond my work place. It's huge and over 100 years old. It's got quite a few Poke Stops in there. I usually drive on Thursdays for game night and I'm going to drive through that place and stock up on my stuff. I was full this past weekend, but attacking gyms really uses up your equipment. I'm TRYING to get rid of razzberries, but I keep getting more.

I did upgrade an Eevee that was already pretty far along. He's now my most powerful at 748 CP. He is a fire one, though, and I already have one of those. They seem to be the weakest as there are so many water ones everywhere. I also upgraded one of those fuzzy Vernonants to next gen and he's 655!

I started playing before the official release in Canada and it's made my office go into Pokemon fever. Currently my highest is a 1025 Vaporeon and my next one after that is 600 or so.

@heychadwick: that GPS good happened to me once. I was in a parking lot with a gym, and Everytime I moved close to the gym, it placed me on the other side of the street. Hopefully your GPS stabilizes in that area.

And it appears that Vaporeon is one of the strongest Pokémon. My 747 Vaporeon took out a 930 Lapras. Crazy!

Whenever I see an Eevee evolve, it's almost always a Vaporeon. I end up with 2 of the Fire ones. My son got a lighting one and loves it. It seems that the evolved Eevees are the most powerful....or....at least the easiest to get up to a high point value so fast? Or the most popular to do so? My most powerful was my fire guy and he's terrible for fighting the Vaporeons. I had to look up what is good vs. water to find out it's Electrical and Grass.

Most of my guys that I got were bug types or fire. The worst gyms I faced had both fire and water Eevees. It took me a while to realize that fire kills the bugs too easy. I got a bunch of Pinsirs in Central Park on my vacation. I got 3 of them and my highest is 689 CP!

I've been trying to upgrade my Grass Pokemon. I upped an Oddish to a Gloom and he's now 565 CP.

My top guys are:

Flareon (fire) = 748

Pinsir (bug) = 689

Venomoth (bug/poison) = 655

Golbat (Poison) = 622

Flareon (fire) = 621

Gloom (Grass/Poison) = 565

I just realized that my Venomoth will rip up a Grass type as both Bug and Poison is their weakness.

What does FLYING add or matter in the game? I've got a lot of Flying, but does it have a strength/weakness?

Flying is weak to electric and ice, but strong against grass and bug. They're interesting because if you see flying and water together in a gym, you go electric because you're good against both. But usually grass is better against water because they take less damage from water-type attacks, and grass attacks deal more against water-type Pokemon.

I love the types in this game because it's never really impossible to take down a gym if you have the right type matchups.

I caught two evee's with the highest CP I've seen yet in-game this morning. I think they just start higher.
