X-Wing Miniatures Painting (website for beginners)

By Space Dragn, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Edit: Just put up another easy tutorial for beginners to follow: http://xwingminiaturespainting.com/how-to-do-simple-x-wing-repaints-part-2

Let me know what you think :)

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share with you my new website in the making!

http://xwingminiaturespainting.com/

Please be kind to it as it is still very young ;) It is meant for beginning painters mainly and I'm sharing the experience I gain on my journey from Padawan to Master. If you have any comments you can leave them on my website and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I hope I can give something back to this amazing community and really hope some of you might enjoy this site as much as I do :D If you have any requests on topics for the future please share them with me as well.

Thanks so much for reading and may the paint be with you...

This is excellent, wish I'd had it a few months back when I started painting 'bits'

Your articles are really well presented & illustrated for those just starting out [love the 'new' bomber one] - looking forward to more! ;)

Thanks ianmiddy! Sorry I didn't finish it faster ;) but maybe you can still learn something new :D I will put up more stuff over the next months and I hope you will follow me on my journey :)

Read a comment on the website re the layout being a little 'common' & like others...would just like to say I think it's a very good format - straightforward, easy to navigate and clear & concise...sometimes, as they say, "less is more" ;)

Haha, thanks! I was thinking more or less the same thing. I think the guy comes from a different community where they use the same layout quite a lot. But I do think that this layout is the most efficient and clear structured while quite fitting for the X-Wing theme. Glad to hear that others see it that way too :D

Just added a new tutorial about painting a cloaking effect. Hope you guys like it :-)

Just got a second Phantom cheap from Amazon, so will be having a go at this soon...will see how successful I am at following your instructions! ;)

Perfect! That's exactly what I was hoping to inspire :-) Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions I'll be happy to help! Make sure to take your time, nothing is worse than a rushed paint job ;)

There were some really cool shots over there!

Thank you sir! I appreciate it :) I will post more of those in the feature if there is enough interest.

You're doing a great job, creating a resource like this.

Thanks very much :) I'm trying to add more and more as time goes on. It proves to be quite the time investment :D

Super Job! Steady hands and a lot of patience are key.

Thanks! Absolutely agree! If you look closely my "steady" hand wasn't as steady as I like it to be :D but it will do for now. Always more practice I need ;)

Thanks for the guide. It's good to see you are getting the results you have without priming. Another guide I looked at involved priming white and I was really hoping to avoid having to do that on these minis.

No worries, I'm glad you like it :) I almost never use a primer. I have used it so far only on the Ghost (just because it is so big) and on Minis that I stripped and painted again as I couldn't get all the details from the first coat off. But even on these I could have just used a brush with several layers and some patience :) Happy painting!

Haha. What a great idea!

What color is that at the aft of the ship? The wine looking one. I'm really digging it.

It's Screamer Pink from the Citadel range with a Nuln Oil coating. I thought it was a really good match for the Joker's suit :D
