Table Top Simulator: SW:A mod

By Kerg12, in Star Wars: Armada

Going to have to check TTS back out now that it's in VR. I haven't been on in a while, and I remember last time X-wing was terrible to try and play.

I'm a little confused on how the cards and upgrades are laid out, and I'm not sure how I'd go about handling them with multiple players on the board. The Physics-based approach seems fairly intuitive but it seems that I have to manually pull cards and ships out, including ship cards, upgrades, and damage (for those effects like Dodanna).

did you check out the tutorial? https://imgur.com/a/SML3E

Yes, they are in the bag, but they don't come out in that handy grid format. Instead, you have a whole stack that you take cards from. You can open a window with this stack organized by alphabet and type, and make it easier, but you have to copy out the cards or they are no longer part of the stack and cannot be used by other ships.

If anyone is looking to play on the TTS you can add me jpersons73.

Going to add you on steam, I'm usually home on the weekends so if youre ever looking for a game.

Select the card you need two of and copy/paste as many as you need.

Also I find it very helpful to set up my list on my own time and save it to my chest so when I play against a friend setup only takes a couple of seconds.

how do you get it back out of the chest? I looked around after starting a new game and didn't see it. Plus, you need to respawn everything (ships/shields/dials) every time?

There is a a setting in either the menu or host tab and when you open the chest, there is a section called saved objects your fleet will be in there or if you just have one it'll spawn it outright. Also for the ships/squadrons you can build your fleet with the models but no shields and then save it and for the next time you'll just need to spawn the dials and shields. Plus you dont always want to have the same dials

Correct, and you can spawn all the shields for each base at once by right clicking the base and typing "shields" in the bottom field.

Sounds great

It looks nice indeed. my only concern is: why would anyone spend hundreds of dollars on a game if you can get it for free on Steam (except of the obvious answer that we love board games)

The people who would ask that question probably won't buy the game anyway. Especially for a miniatures game, not having the models is a pretty significant drawback.

I do agree with Cactus... But, I will admit...

I don't think I've ever seen a 10-minute delayed double post before...

It's a talent.

I can give you at least 5 good reasons:

-For a wargame player, playing with miniatures is an incomparably better experience than playing a video game.

-People often underestimate the advantage of real world interactions, the social aspect of gaming is for many people very important: meet friends, drink a beer after or during a game, talking about IRL stuff , I even saw people meeting their wife within gaming groups ...

-Many people spend money on games because of tournaments, have you ever wonder why people spend thousand of dollars on magic cards while they can just buy/make proxies for almost nothing? Well because they are tournaments legal. As long as FFG support organized play IRL rather than online it will stay this way. Their is a lot of ways to play MTG online for free with good looking and convenient programs and yet people still buy and play cards.

-Some players paint their own miniatures so for them it feels even better to field ship/squadrons they have painted themselves.

-At the end of the day, Table Top simulator is still far away from a real video game, if someday they do a Star Wars Armada with good graphics, rules integrations, reward system , integrated tournament system... maybe it will be a different story and even then, people will still play the board game for all the reasons I have already quoted.

However this simulator looks great for testing or for people with no armada community nearby.

Welp, I'm probably up for some TTS. Steam name: Vacuuming The Lawn

I am resurrecting this from the dead! Live! Live!

Anyway, now for the real announcement. The armada Table top League is almost ready to begin season 2! Please sign up and be faithful to the league. We are looking for players everywhere!

Man I would love to join this but living in Japan makes it hard to match up with others time zones

I got Tabletop Simulator the other day and at some point I'm gonna need someone to walk me through how to actually play this on it - that maneuver tool looks wonderful but I can't pick the darn thing up and do it! ha ha

We had a guy from Spain playing last season, it was a bit hard to coordinate times with him, but he was able to play 4 games all with a week.

I can teach you how to use it, I believe Friday night I am available, if you can download discord that would be nice.

Side note for the 3 continuous posts, my multi-quote wasn't working for some reason

Since Tabetop Simulator is on sale I may buy it. There is a chance that I would convince friend or two to do it as well. Is there any way to watch somewhere an example of Armada game played via TS? Maybe I will finally be able to test that list before buying some more stuff...
