Has anyone heard or played the star wars armada mod on Steams Table top Simulator? Picked it up last week and haven't had a chance to play yet, but is it better than vassal?
Table Top Simulator: SW:A mod
Never played Vassal but TTS mode is awesome.
Would like to see it in action... I would pay on both if tts proved to be good... for now, vassal seems good enough for me...
When I saw the TTs mod for Armada it was Very basic and not updated enough but that was a while ago has it improved?
Doesn't seem to have been updated, hopefully he/she updates it soon. Cause I would really love to play. I would like to play vassal more, but I just cant seem to learn how to play it for some reason...
New modders keep taking a crack at a armada module. The latest TTs armada mod looks rather good. Lots of nice scripting to help move gameplay along. Though many of the ship models have designs which are still a little rough. If you want to look at screenshots here is link to its workshop page http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=713586082

The one I saw had 3 ships that were loosely the shape of the actual models but without textures. It was pretty sad lol
I tinkered around it it. It's pretty much unplayable IMO.
I also have a pretty low opinion of Vassal but I'd take Vassal over that TTS mod anyday.
Edit: Apparently there's a new one. I'll check it out.

The one linked above?
I got it the other day when it was on sale. It seems more intuitive (to me) than vassal. Everything worked well. Granted it was only me playing but I liked it.

You're probabably looking at the wrong one. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=713586082
Haven't played vassal, but I just started on TTS. I think it's great.

Dam that looks good
How do you actually use this? Is there a parent program you need to install and then add an Armada mod?

You need to buy Tabletop Simulator from Steam, then you just subscribe to the mod, and it just works.

It looks nice indeed. my only concern is: why would anyone spend hundreds of dollars on a game if you can get it for free on Steam (except of the obvious answer that we love board games)

Care to elaborate? I picked it up and got a few games on it. Seems fine to me.

And the "Free on Steam" section of it is of questionable legality.

I guess my edit didn't clarify enough. I was referring to a previous mod, not the mod that was the subject of this topic.
Tinkered with the SWA mod last night after getting TTS during the steam sale.
The presentation, of course, is far better than Vassal and the ship models have been rendered very well with fully detailed models and bases.
I'm a little confused on how the cards and upgrades are laid out, and I'm not sure how I'd go about handling them with multiple players on the board. The Physics-based approach seems fairly intuitive but it seems that I have to manually pull cards and ships out, including ship cards, upgrades, and damage (for those effects like Dodanna).
The amount of automation for things like the maneuver tool is GREAT and exactly what Vassal is missing at the moment.

I just finished a test game with my friend and it is very nice, and you can save your builds in a chest once you select them all. I found it was best to make a fleet in singleplayer and drop it in multiplayer for a quick start. And it is very easy once you learn to play also do not delete anything automated it pretty much destroys the mod we found out
