This is going to sound like an odd question, so let me provide some background on why I'm asking. Here is the short introduction to the arc I'm writing, HEAVILY influenced by the most recent arc ongoing in The Adventure Zone podcast:
In this adventure module, players will be tasked with breaking the eternal torment of the thought bomb that ended the Seventh Battle of Ruusan between the Jedi and the Sith 1,000 years ago. Upon entering the site of the battle, they will be launched into the final hour prior to the thought bomb's detonation. This is the recurring torture the power has ensnared all the force sensitive souls trapped in: having to relive the last hour of their life for eternity. The key difference between the players and the other lost souls trapped inside the bomb's power, however, is that the players know they are inside and remember everything they experienced inside of it before their deaths. If the players can learn, through repeated experiences and deaths, how to stop Sith Lord Kaan from detonating the thought bomb, they will unravel its hold upon the souls trapped inside and be thrust back into the present. Their reward will several powerful Sith artifacts, as well as some additional XP sinks for force sensitive characters as the soul of Lord Kaan turns them fully to the dark side and offers to train them in the ways of the force as his acolytes.
I already have a ton of content fleshed out for this as far as a hook, intro, beginning and ending, as well as rules for how the looping works. Now I'm generating the 'meat' of the scenario, the various goings-on within that hour that fill the time of the NPCs, and that the PCs will need to learn and figure out how to use to their advantage. To that end, I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything that has been written about battle tactics by the Sith or Old Republic that could lend me some inspiration? Failing that, any ideas are good ideas for filling this thing up.
Key points: Begin in a crashed ship that has made a microjump into the force field around the battle, similar to the jump made in the most recent movie. Ending in stopping Lord Kaan, who has hold up inside a cave system with the other Sith Lords to create the thought bomb, from being able to finish it. Outside of that, any ideas to fill this with are super welcome and helpful. So far, I have the following notes:
* Include some sort of old republic encampment, with a prison that has a low-ranking sith or massassi in it that might talk to the PCs if they are captured by the old republic
* At one of the cave entrances, include a Silooth (essentially a beetle transformed by Sith Alchemy into a horrible gigantic beast of rage)
I have some other lighter notes about types of things to include, but I have no ideas for locations or reasons for them to be somewhere yet, so I won't pollute the air any further with my own stuff
. Any ideas for further reading I might do, or direct ideas for generating a 'scene' for them to interact with would be much appreciated. As with my murder mystery adventure, I'm creating this on obsidian portal with custom CSS to have everything look just like it does in the rulebooks, and am happy to publish it after I'm done. It's a bit niche, but could probably be adapted for use with non-evil groups.
