Order 66 Podcast Guide

By GreyMatter, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So I'm starting up a second campaign with a new group of five people, four of whom have never played FFG SW before, and three of whom have never table-topped before. They are looking for some introductory resources to prime themselves, and I've given them the usual free endorsed PDF resources and other community-produced collateral. But a couple of them are podcast fans and I've mentioned that Order 66 is highly regarded. But there are, at last glance, over 80 episodes, and some of them clock in at over 3 hours. So they're asking me, "Which ones should I start with?"

And I have no answer for them, because I haven't listened to a single episode.

Yes, I know. I'm a heathen.

Anyways, are there any standout introductory ones I should recommend to them, beyond "start from the beginning"? Notably good ones for beginners, or ones that cover the mechanics of gameplay?

If they're new to the system I'd start them out with the episodes covering the core book(s) for the line(s) you'll be playing. I personally prefer listening to the ones where they have the devs visiting and answering questions, but that might be because I'm a GM and enjoy hearing them expanding and clarifying on the rules and such.

Here's a list and short rundown of what each episode covers. Maybe that will help?

Maybe have them listen to the "Isn't that Special" episodes dealing with the specialization they chose? If it's been covered, that is. Several have been, but a lot haven't.

That's perfect. Thanks guys.

Also the second and third episode in the feed (un-numbered) are fantastic Live Play episodes that highlight some of the very core concepts of the system very well.

Pretty much cant go wrong with any of them though, they are all good!

this is a great idea too.

I highly recommend Episode 57. *cough cough*

..... What?

For my own sake, I'm glad I started listening. The NPC design session one is great, and I'm also enjoying the Ghosts of Memory Live Play episode.

Any of the episodes with Jay Little are great in getting the intended feel and style of the game.

Nice! I listed to Social Engineering and found it useful.

Oh wow, if you're GMing a Force and Destiny game then the latest episode, 79 - Do or do not, there is no trials, is an absolute must, just to get the idea juices flowing.
