A Man in Carbonite

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Has anyone played this scenario yet? It seems fun and really funny.

I don't remember the exact wording, but essentially:

You defeat an enemy figure. Place one of your tokens where that figure "died." If you retrieve that figure you can dump it in the carbon hole for points worth the cost of the figure.

So essentially you're dumping the dead bodies of your enemies down the hole for points.

It occurred to us how extra funny this would be if you killed an AT-ST or Bantha. And then somehow drag the body of the AT-ST or Bantha all the way to the carbon chamber. :P

I think, the most common case would be, that you have to carry a 2-4 points figure all over the map to get these 2-4 points. Is that worth it? Don't think so. I think, this mission favours swarms too much and therefore I hope, it will not make into the upcoming tournament regulations.

Yeah if this was in the rotation, I think it would encourage a lot of low cost figures for sure. Though the other scenario on the same map encourages more high cost figures. So maybe it would balance out a bit?

Then it comes down to a gambit, where the random draw of the mission determines, which list has better chances to win. I don't think, that I would like this.

Wouldn't that just force you to play the middle ground?

Make a list that has one or two strong high cost figures and then a lot of low cost ones?

I wouldn't mind that tough choice being forced on people for list building.

I played it! While the objective is pretty funny, I ended up winning on murder points before anyone could get tossed in the hole. Sadly.

I feel a lot of the bespin maps force a confrontation due the point costs of things. I like the confrontational style which the maps aid in due to there being a lot of close corridors and back doors. I don't like how much some of the objectives are costed. Some of the games I've played are over in 3 rounds because I captured 3 objectives and my opponent only 1 which makes the game end early it feels. I like a side objective to just killing everyone, but I don't want it to be too powerful as well.
