Now my thoughts, I do not think that we would ever get most of the generic pilots, as I think that is what the unnamed pilots represent. I could see some of the aces, and other named fighters. I do not think that they would release the Scum as a third faction, but could see more of them being released to the other factions. Some of the crew I think may have been released but I am not sure as I do not do X-wing, the ones like Dangar, Bobba Fett and such, I could see others like Luke also being released as crew.

I don't think very much of what you've listed will translate well into Armada, but some of it might perhaps translate, albeit differently.

Named pilots: We've got doubles with very different abilities on the X-wing and Tie Fighter. So there's precedent there for getting another pilot in the A's, B's, Y's, Tie Advanced, Tie Interceptor, and Tie Bomber. I just don't think we'll actually see them do it when they can expand the game in a number of other key ways. If the game goes on for a while, probably.

I could see an Advanced Fighter pack with 4 Rebel and 4 Imperial models, or an Advanced Rebel and Advanced Imperial Fighter pack with 2 each of 4 models. In fact, I'd expect something like this to drop in wave 5, and certainly by wave 6. Squadrons are just too important in this game not to have them expand the game in this way.

Some of the crew/droids could appear in the crew slot. That's really hard to say. So far, we've gotten a good mix and we have different Armada appropriate generic officers. I'd expect to see more in that direction, with the occasional named character that overlaps.

That is quite a scrape of the X-Wing list.

I do indeed hope that some of it comes out in the future. Perhaps a "Aces" pack that includes 1 of each squadron from the Imperial and Rebel sets and then 2 cards for each. I feel that 4 X-Wing/TIE and 3-4 of each other would be a job well done. Our individual pilots are not as important to the game as they are in X-Wing after all. But more variety is never going to be terrible.

I too would love to see "More Scum and Villainy" as you point out there are a few iconic characters that are missing.

As for the Droids, they are very much a part of X-Wing but we rarely see them in a command position in any movies. Now that plucky R2 unit may be vital to Luke in his X-Wing but what would it do in Armada?

The one thing I would like to see more of would be new sets of missions, maybe 2-3 more for each colour and maybe even a 4th colour. Perhaps a mission with each player picks 4 of their obstacles then places his opponents down, or each player palms their token for counting turns and puts that many down.

I want the vindicator class pocket star destroyer. Imperials need a good sniper ship.

I am confident that we will see more squadrons at some point, though I don't think we will see a lot of new named pilots for squadrons we already have.

Personally I think the next squadron pack could be:

Rebels:

E-Wing (Corran Horn)

Z-95 (Airen Cracken)

K-Wing (Miranda Doni)

VCX-100 (Hera Syndulla)

Empire:

TIE Defender (Rexler Brath)

TIE Phantom (Whisper)

TIE Punisher (Redline)

VT-49 Decimator (Rear Admiral Chiraneau)

Edited by Lochlan

They will make them as long as we keep buying them. Just that simple.

Some variants of X-Wings or Tie Interceptors with Rogue/Grit would be nice at some point too.

I wonder in the future what the breakdown might be for a flotilla addition as compared to a rogue/villain add on.

I can see the droids ending up as faction specific tech upgrades if not officers.

They need to be incremental in adding new units to the game. If they glut the market, they will lose fan base that cant keep up with the arms race and just give up. If there is too much time between releases... well, the Armada is Dead" rage quitting begins.

and Armada is not cheap...

Well, I think its interesting that we're not drawing from the same immediate pool of upgrades...

I mean, there are a bunch of upgrades that could have been from X-Wing sources, but instead, Armada took them straight from Rebels - Admiral Konstantine, Admiral Titus, Commandant Areshka... They could have easily been established-but-now-EU sourced materials...

I am sure that we'll see more of the Rebels stuff, too... Wether ot not that's a second R*V Pack that has some of the Unique stuff (again, coupled with Generics), or some odd crew here and there... But it all has to be coupled with the way Armada releases...

I mean, I doubt we'd get a "Lothal Rebels" Pack that has 4 Ghosts in it, so you could have 1 of each major pilot as a pilot for it... No. Instead you'd get one Double, for a Generic and, Probably Hera... Simple. Sweet. No where near the Detail...

You can flip that to having a TAP in the same box as well... As a Grand Inquisitor and as a Generic... But, agian, simple.

I'm quite happy that things are all roughly kicking around the Trilogy Times.....

More of this, please.

No Rush for Force Awakens... Even if that is an "Inevitability."

I have to believe that with the demand Armada is having, FFG will produce an Aces pack or a Card Pack with new bases. It cant cost that much (need play testing for different abilities) and maybe when a new wave is taking forever they will bring out small squads as fillers to keep us happy.

I am hoping for more squad goodness, and hope to see Ships and Squad packs with each wave going forward. I know Armada is a more of a intensive strag game but it is really fun to push around squads.

They won't. At least not in such a minimist function.

Even for the Angel Game, they made sure such things were packaged with new Ships.......

As long as there are three words (and the FFG logo) I tend to just line up for it: Star Wars Game.

I think that in the long run we will get more named pilots, not sure how soon but sooner or later. Depending on how you look at it, we will be getting our first droid with the Medical Officer, I could also see some of them being used to do the same thing that some of the other officers do, but one time only.

That is quite a scrape of the X-Wing list.

I do indeed hope that some of it comes out in the future. Perhaps a "Aces" pack that includes 1 of each squadron from the Imperial and Rebel sets and then 2 cards for each. Perhaps a mission with each player picks 4 of their obstacles then places his opponents down, or each player palms their token for counting turns and puts that many down.

Now it might be that most people did not like the phantom menance but I could see having the droid be a single use repair a critical (make it a standard hit) or discard to add an engineering token to your engineering command, some thing like that. I like the idea of more missions.

I am confident that we will see more squadrons at some point, though I don't think we will see a lot of new named pilots for squadrons we already have.

VT-49 Decimator (Rear Admiral Chiraneau)

I do think that we will get more fighter packs, but will all of them be new or would it be two new and two old? That would let them reuse the molds they already have and spread the cost of the new molds out longer. All that they would need is to print some cards and disc's.

Wave 3 in my hands? Nope.

Yup, I'm with Blail Blerg on this. Any of these toys are a long way out into our future.

Not that I doubt we'll see most of the missing X-Wing fighters with unique pilots, just that I doubt they'll be seen before the next World Cup.

I'm sure z-95s will be available at some point. E-Wings and K-Wings are grey territory becasue they violate Disney's policy about the expanded Universe. I.e.: they directly contradict to it because as far as Disney concerns everything happened in the EU after the Battle of Endor did not happen at all. And as FFG is in clse relation with the Lucas empire and hence Disney I doubt they would risk upsetting them like that.

Edited by Norell

There's nothing preventing Disney/Lucasarts/Bob from taking an E-Wing, K-Wing, or any other post-Endor ship, and calling it a development of their New Republic, or Imperial Remnant, or First Order, or Resistance, or whatever.

Just because we won't get the EU origin, doesn't mean we can't get the hull.

Great list - saving it as soon as I get home.

I think we will continue to see Canon AND Legend products. We're still getting EU stuff in X-Wing after all.

We also don't know what ships/characters/stories will be wrapped back into Canon over time.

Ahhem!!!

What about the Lambda or Sentinel class shuttles? ;)

Ahhem!!!

Arquitens is certain.

Executor will appear, sooner or later.

OK, that would be why I did not find it on the list of stuff that has been released for X-wing. Also now I have to go and re-watch that as I do not remember seeing it.
