New member - SW:IA Boxed Sets?

By pkjedi5334, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Greetings FFG Community,

I am brand new to Imperial Assault. However, I have been building and painting tabletop miniatures for 26 years.

This is a great game so far and I had a question / suggestion that I feel would be worthy of your input, (if there is already a post regarding this then I do apologize).

My kids love the Twi'lek Jedi. They love the Bothan soldier. They would really like to see more of basically everything.

My question / suggestion is: Why not create box sets of figures you can create yourself with class specific cards.

Would love to see a Jedi Box with sprues to make different races.

A Rebel and Stormtrooper box with options for different poses and weapons. Could be used to make wounded or casualty figures too.

Smuggler, Dark Side, Mercenary, Mandalorian, Droid..... I would spend my money so hard on those as opposed to kit bashing anything I can get my hands on to make it look like the Jedi I want.

Thoughts?

I would be wholeheartedly behind this, but this is really marketed more as a board game instead of a hobby game. I miss certain hobby aspects in modeling, but the games is way better than most hobby-oriented games

I don't know if they would make money doing it the way you're describing ( profit margin is greater with cheap mold injected minis over sprues)

I still chop up my guys and repose them and paint them.

I can't see FFG suddenly turning IA into a hobby game on the scale the OP is suggesting. Maybe if they were going to launch a new product, but to switch gears like that during the run of an existing product would alienate the player base.

Don't get me wrong, I think that would make for a cool game, but it wouldn't sit well with those that have already invested in the game and aren't into the modelling and painting side of the hobby.

They could release something like this to tie in with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game they have going.

But tying it in with IA would cause friction with existing players for sure...
