Alexy Davy interview crowd-sourcing questions.

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Yes this might seem lazy, but I want to know what you guys want to know.

There's a small chance I might be getting an interview in with Alex Davy at Star Wars Celebration next weekend. He's obviously going to be quite busy there so I won't be surprised if he can't find time.

In the case that I can actually sit down with him, what sort of things would you like me to ask him?

I want to make sure I'm asking what you guys really want to hear to get the best interview possible for you all.

I'll pick which of these I think are the best. (Again this is assuming he has enough free time for a small timer like me. ;) )

When are you going to launch the loved Assault Gunboat?????

Remind me, is he from the FFG team or is he one of the carry overs who didn't get axed from Lucas Arts?

Can we get timing charts for the other game phases?

Have you thought about clear overlays with quadrants to turn existing turret ships into mobile firing arcs?

Every wave since the beginning has included at least one ship that was in Star Wars Galaxies; will that trend continue? Please? Pretty please?

Any plans to revitalize the early waves large ship generic pilots that are so overcosted compared to newer releases?

Do you believe contracted scout alpha strike lists need to be toned down?

Remind me, is he from the FFG team or is he one of the carry overs who didn't get axed from Lucas Arts?

He is one of the lead designers of X-Wing and Armada. He's been on X-Wing since wave 4 and Armada since the beginning I think.

He can't really talk about future products, so a lot of those questions won't do much good. You have to come at it sideways.

How do you feel about b-wings in the current meta? Are they in a good place?

1) Are there any plans to fix Mission Control? It needs some sort of labeling system to make searching for mission types easier. Also, it needs to be updated with templates for the latest ships. It doesn't seem like it would take that much effort on their part, but it would be HUGE to fix it and make it usable.

2) Will FFG ever do more casual oriented news articles? Reviews of missions? Fan submitted reviews of missions? Some news is better than no news and why not do more casual oriented news? Can review earlier missions now with new toys, or review missions from Mission Control. Strategies and game play discussion can be thrown in with list suggestions.

Ah, don't really have any useful questions then.

Besides my two points, I want to know if there is anything planned out there for Casual X-wing?

Actually, I have something non-X-wing related, but FFG nonetheless. When are we expecting a new RPG sourcebook for Star Wars from the new Disney canon?

I'd really like to more about about the feedback loop between design and playtesting. How much does it drive their decisions, have they ever made a significant change as a result of playtesting results. It's one of those things that is a bit behind a wall because of NDAs. I think it would make for some interesting conversation.

Here goes:

1) Considering so many of the battles we've seen lately in games, SW Rebels, Episode 7, and even Rogue 1 are taking place in atmosphere, do you think an atmospheric mode of play would be feasible in X-Wing? (We want an AT-AT for crying out loud!)

I know this question might not get answered, but it's more of an opinion question rather than "what's coming OMG TELL ME!", and his facial expression might tell more than his words.

2) Would FFG like to see more of a truly "multiplayer" experience in their Star Wars games? For example, a 5-player board game, or a 7-player, officially licensed X-Wing mode?

So many of their games are simply 1 v 1, it's sad when a 3rd person is standing there waiting to get next, but it's X-Wing epic, or Armada, and it's going to be at least 2 hours until you guys are done.

3) (fun question) If you could get the game-creation rights to ONE Intellectual Property, which would it be and what type of game would you like to do with it?

in regards to 2, since he's only a designer on two games, and not in charge of creating new games etc, I doubt he'd have any input on that. Though I could ask his opinion on how he feels about those kind of games.

Why is the 5 string banjo really the best instrument to have equipped to the falcon?

Are all the brobots sound effects really dubstep...or is it electroswing slowed down?

yeah opinions are always cool.

Ok here's a really GOOD question though. Ask him what's up with Amazon completely ignoring the Street Date for new releases! (He probably doesn't know but it's still a good question).

Amaozn was shipping Imp Veterans like 2 weeks early, and today someone I know got the latest Imperial Assault stuff, over a week before street date, because of Amazon.

I'd ilke to know when they decided to include the arc 170. As it wasn't long ago that alex or someone else at ffg had finally admitted they might add prequel ships, but not for several waves yet. Well obviously that isn't the case now.

What's going on with the Canadian Nationals this year...

Actually, I know that's not his area so it's not really a great question for this venue.

A better one:

Is he pleased with the way Huge ships play out in Epic X-Wing?
