FFG bring Jedi Starfighter to X-Wing.

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Or less probability of it working?

The Jedi Starfighter is definitely the next thing I'd want from the prequels after the ARC-170.

Immelmann: Before your reveal your dial, discard this card to perform a full stop, then receive a stress token.

Split - S: Before your reveal your dial, discard this card to perform a speed 2 Talon Roll. Then receive a stress token.

Your Immelmann literally does nothing but give you a stress token. I assume you meant to add something about then not performing the manoeuvre on your dial? Also, how is that an Immelmann - doesn't match the description of them on wikipedia.

I don't know if you meant your Split-S to be used as well as your selected manoeuvre.

Immelmann is essentially inertial dampeners but as an EPT.

Split S is just because Mav uses it, its a defensive move to break away from combat but he uses it offensively. So being able to perform a Talon roll into a green move would be awesome. Hence why you can only do it once.

Although now I have wrote that, Tomax Bren would be doing that all game. Talon for days.

I was going to list a few more but Scissors, etc are too difficult to pull off in X wing.

Additionally, I did have a house game a few times, Interceptors versus X wings but no one was allowed to perform a K turn, target locks are only acquired and kept if you end the turn with the target in arc and primary weapons are range 1 - 2 whilst secondary weapons (and TL) are 3 - 5. It makes for quite a different game when people can't just K turn to cover up a mistake.

Another rule was put in place that you may only adjust speed by 1 each turn unless you take a stress for each speed you increased-reduced by.

If you're going to make rules for those things, at least know what those maneuvers actually are and what they're tactically used for.

An Immelman turn is a K-Turn, but with vertical movement. It's not a dead stop. You pull up on the stick until you're inverted pointing the opposite direction, and then you perform a quick aileron roll to level out.

A Split S is the sister to the Immelman. It's the exact same thing, but backwards and executed downwards. You perform an aileron roll to an inverted position, and pull back on the stick until you are pointing the opposite direction and leveled out.

Tactically the application is 100% identical to a K-Turn. Pilots use them to shake fighters off their six(mostly by praying that they won't predict the maneuver and follow you through it, so basically it's usually a gamble to go for it), and to gain more favorable angles on enemies quickly, as they are faster than circling all the way around.

Even then, I personally wouldnt suggest ever executing an Immelman or Split-S to shake an opponent. I've read and seen many bad things at training ops like Red Flag where this was attempted and failed miserably. One particular incident comes to mind, where an F-14D pilot attempted a double Immelman, only for the tailing F-5E aggressor pilot to effortlessly follow them through it and score an easy kill. To be fair, this is because the aggressor pilots are cream of the crop pilots, and the F-5E is by far the more maneuverable platform between it and the F-14.

The next prequel ship will surely be the N-1, on account of Leia and Shara piloting them just after Endor. Or maybe the Eta-2, since Vader canonically flew one for 5+ years before upgrading to his TIE Advanced. The Delta-7 has nothing to indicate it was used during the Galactic Civil War era (even the Jedi had almost completely phased it out by the end of the Clone Wars), so regardless of it being cool-looking I don't see much prospect of it appearing unless FFG adds Clone Wars factions to the game. I wouldn't mind that at all, but I doubt it's happening any time soon.

Jedi Starfighter? Hell yes! I grew up with the prequels like you old farts grew up with the originals, their ships were the best part of the movies.

We are all so sorry you suffered that as a child, it's not your fault *hugs* it's not your fault.

An Immelmann and a Koiogran turn are not the same but, considering that the mechanics for X-wing were copied from a WW1 fighter game, you could expect the mistake in the translation of the manoeuvre.

An Immelmann is an attack pass, where the attacking craft lifts after a diving pass and then turns off to come back on the craft that has turned off. Its more akin to the Tallon Roll.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tallon_Roll

A Korigan turn is designed to escape a tail, it's closer to a Split S. It requires Deceleration into the roll.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_S

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Koiogran_turn

The K-Turn in this game doesn't escape anything and leaves you in Arc.

It is probably more akin to the roll-off-the-top (Sometimes known as Immelmann in Acrobatics though it has nothing to do with Immelmann) because of the forward straight line movement before the lift into an about face.

I agree the N-1 is almost certainly next. I very much doubt we'll see Vader flying the ETA-2, since that would be the wrong era. When we see these ships they're old. It's perfectly possible we'll see characters from the books/cartoons/comics flying old ones.

The other problem with the Eta-2 would be coming up with other pilots, since as far as we know Vader is the only person who flew it during the early Empire era.

Also, thanks FFG. You put the ARC-170 in and now we have a bunch of neckbeards talking about how cool the prequel ships are. Great.

I'm 24, I grew up when the prequels were coming out also. Since I have good taste I prefer the original, unmolested trilogy on the one true format, Laserdisc.

My neck is shaved and the prequel ships are great.

I'm 20 and i'm well-groomed. I grew up with the Original Trilogy, and like them more than the prequels.

Prequel ships are still great.

Let's not have the "my generation is best because something something original trilogy" conversation. Whenever it comes up, you just make yourselves look like a bunch of whiny losers.

...Jesus Christ the irony in this post is just.

My god it's off the chart and or full of stars.

Holy Cannoli.

I can still vaguely remember going to the local cinema house to watch Return of the Jedi. I veer wildly between well groomed and scruffily dishevelled and bleary-eyed, depending on what day of the week it is, and I have a vague, bemused dislike of everything prequel related.

That said, I have no problem whatsoever with FFG releasing prequel ships, as I'm sure plenty of people would love to see them. Who am I to say what toy spaceships people should or should not be allowed to play with?

Most of The Stink-quel ships ARE Cool. It is not their fault they were made by excellent artist only to be used by a worn out old man that believed he was a cinema-god.

;)

All in The Prequels... REB%2BYT-1300%2BNDV.png SCUM%2BBSOBA%2BFS31.PNG REB%2BARC%2B170.PNG REB%2BJEDI%2BHYPER%2BATTACK.png REB%2BJEDI%2BMASTER%2BETA2.PNG and all very very very cool!

I mean, just...

A bunch of dudes hating on ten-plus-year-old films and any content within them, calling others neckbeards..?

Good googly moogly, guys we're kinda all equal in mom's basement here. This is happening on a forum about small starship toys.

I really hope I don't have to point that out more often.

How dare you not like my post right above this post... how dare you!!!

iie.

I am not saying that it will happen, but I still want it to.

Is there a forum for prequel ships with prequel pilots and prequel factions.

I like the originals much better of course. :)

As the proud owner of a luxurious red beard, that happens to not be on the neck, I will say while I didn't particularly enjoy the 'story' of the prequels, I do like the tech.

I love tech, and I love CGI. I do really like a lot of the designs for ships in the prequels. They might not fit into my idea of Star Wars, but I still like them, I think my favorite prequel ship being Darth Maul's... thing, in Ep.I that I cant remember what it was called.

I even like the N-1, used as it's purpose as a kind of parade-armor. I dont think it should be a good ship for combat, but it seems to me as a good design for a ship meant to be pretty. Like how you dont buy a limousine to street race, you shouldn't take an N-1 to battle a totalitarian empire; it's a show-car.

Maul's ship would be the Scimitar.

If we are requesting things from FFG then I'd like a BSG boxed game like Armada but self contained. Basestar and Galactica and Pegasus. Maybe a campaign on linked missions with varying objectives, like hold off the attack while the civilians escape, or jump in to a cylon controlled system to make a surgical strike on one of their ships.

Thanks you.

Frankly, their existing BSG game (and its endless expansions) provides a reasonable approximation of the title you're requesting.

I doesn't at all. It's great but it's not in any way like a 2 player capital ship battle game.

Can be a good game. In BSG you have a lot of ships, in Blood and Chrome they introduced some more. FFG can do a game with painted ships, to do missions similar to armada. They can introduce something similar to the jumps, put your fleet in a space area near to the enemy and do the mission. Mechworld did something god to start with a new game.

I'm well, not too worried. But Jedi fighters would be droid fighters... UGH.

Delta-7 and Eta-2 with hyperdrive rings so they could at least have enough plastic to justify being in a 15 buck expansion.

I don't get to be a neckbeard since I'm forced to shave for my job. Sorry guys.

I would love for more ships from actual Star Wars movies to show up in this game but when it comes to the Clone Wars my greatest love is reserved for the V-19 Torrent. Love that thing!
