Vessery...and...er...krassis trellix..lots of ion things.

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I think I would drop these upgrades:

  • Fleet Officer - seems like an odd choice when you'll only ever have 1 other friendly ship
  • Ion Projector - I think you'd be much better off with Engine Upgrade
  • Proton Rockets - 3 points is a lot for one extra die, once

That leaves you with 10 points. I would suggest:

  • 4 points for Engine Upgrade on Krassis
  • 2 or 3 points for either Tactician or Rebel Captive on Krassis - being stressed and ionized is very, very bad
  • 2 points for Slave 1 and Extra Munitions, maybe?

Colonel Vessery (35):

  • Crackshot (1)
  • Ion Cannon (3)
  • Homing Missiles (5)
  • Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
  • TIE/D (0)

Total: 45 pts

Krassis Trelix (36):

  • Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
  • Ion Pulse Missiles (3)
  • Conner Net (4)
  • Agent Kallus (2)
  • Slave-I (0)
  • Long-Range Scanners (0)
  • Extra Munitions (2)

Total: 54 pts

I'd probably skin them up as much as possible to fit a Tie Fighter in there (maybe Wampa), because I don't think they can handle being a duo and there's a lot of excess in there. With that said:

Crackshot is much more appealing to me when the rest of the list has lower PS than Vess already. Plus CrackIon is terrifying.

Homing Missiles on Vess when you just need that kill against an evade ace and there's range between them.

Agent Kallus is a better service to any Firespray, more so on Krassis. Double mods without any action. Pales against swarms but it's a weakness of the list overall, so...

LRS on Krassis makes a lot of sense. While you don't need it for your cannon, your auxiliar arc will greatly appreciate it. Disengage after passing by, rinse and repeat. But you have Vess there, which increases LRS's utility.

Ion Miss, Conner and EM are luxury options. Alongside Homing Miss, they can easily become a Tie Fighter. Thought I should point it out.

Can Firesprays be effective in a 2 ship build? I am not so sure.

Who knows. Well....I guess most folks and the answer is no.

Still...what if it's enough to keep things occupied while vessery does terrible things.

My thought is...It's a take on rac/whisper. PlayStation wise.

Be hyper aggressive. Get ions everywhere and try to reap some benefit

Sevilla (Spain, 100 players) regional has been won by this lovely Boba-Kath list (a slighty variant from one I've used a lot, so extra proof that I'm an awful player :P):

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)Adaptability (0)4-LOM (1)Homing Missiles (5)Glitterstim (2)Extra Munitions (2)Guidance Chips (0)Slave I (0)Kath Scarlet (Scum) (38)Veteran Instincts (1)Dengar (3)Glitterstim (2)Engine Upgrade (4)Total: 97

Right now I only have the top4 lists (this, Palp aces as the other finalist and two brobots lists).

I do agree drop ion projector for EU. I think it looks fun, need to dust off the old 'Spray and giver her a go.

The fleet officer works for the ship they are on as well, so there will be 2 ships for the ability.

Wow, I was sure it sais "other friendly ship" !

All of this.

I'll be making some adjustments.

Nope, just:

ACTION: Choose up to 2 friendly ships at Range 1-2 and assign 1 focus token to each of those ships. Then receive 1 stress token.

Paired well on Tomax Bren and Cool Hand. That stress turns into a focus or evade every time. Got that idea from a podcast. Gold Squadron IIRC.

Why not change that F/O to a Black Crack? After the crackshot is gone, go into blocker mode.

I think in this case I prefer the FO. For target lock to help vessery

Good call, plus the PS1 makes for an efficient blocker.

I like it. The only thing I'd think about changing would be swapping Crack Shot and Mk2 engines for Lone Wolf. Crack Shot is for front-loading damage, Lone Wolf is for insurance when other squad members die. I expect your build is better in a lot of situations, but Lone Wolf also lets you split Vessery wide. He's pretty tough when Lone Wolf is active, and it lets Krassis get chasing shots with a double-modified HLC if they go after Vessery. Both are good, though.

In light of extremely recent developments...I'll need to revisit this idea

:)

Tail gunner... whatsup?

Same cost as Kallus, attacks a different type of match-up and goes well with LRS.

I say go for it.
