JJs vs Matt Antillies will be on in just under 3 hours. 6pm central time (gmt -5)
=THE NEXT ARMADA EVENT ON VASSAL= ROUND TWO... FIGHT!!!
Mattshadowlord vs Clonturin should be on tonight at 10pm PST.
Mattshadowlord vs Clonturin should be on tonight at 10pm PST.
Starting NOW!
Maturin is flying Clon's RAMTASTIC RAMBUSH fleet, with 9 capital ships, Reeikan and 7 Engine Techs.
I will be using my Rogue Madness list with 3 AFs and 7 YT2400s. Apart from sharing the Rebel flag, these fleets could hardly be more different ![]()
Game complete.
I mean, HILARIOUS GAME COMPLETE!
Despite a few attempts, Maturin didn't cause a single point of hull damage by shooting, but just played Super Smash Bros with my fleet. There is something breathtaking about the inevitability of Clontroper5's latest creation; if an Assault Frigate is within range 5 of three or more engine tech Corvettes, it dies. No questions asked, and it doesn't even matter if the corvettes are destroyed on the approach -- they just keep on coming.

Maturin played an aggressive and canny game, and by the end of turn 2 Akbar had been crushed under the weight of corvettes, the same fate as the point-frigate Predator. The remaining frigate was reduced to 1 hull point and limping badly.
However, the audience's cheerleading for Maturin's inevitable victory was silenced when in the nick of time YT2400s killed the corvette best positioned to cut the frigate's path off, and the game entered the end phase with the AFB setting engines to full, killing another corvette with a double arc, and blasting through to the other side of the insane enemy's mad fleet.
When the dust settled, the AFB surviving on 1 hull point caused a massive swing in the result, as between it and the Rogues all the enemy ships except Reekan's pocket transport were destroyed, and victory was torn from deep down the throat of defeat ![]()
381 to 245
MOV 136 for a very surprising 8-2 win. Well played Maturin, it could so easily have been 445 to you ![]()
As one of Dr. Maturin's most fearless champions, and the multiple victim of the Shadowlord's rogues / Ackbar combo, I am grieved by this outcome.
But well played, Mon Mattma - you are truly the greatest of us all!
Gink vs Skycake is on now.
2 rounds played. Skycake take 2 contested outpost tokens. Admonition is about to blow the first corvette to pieces.
Likely to be picked up on Monday at 13:00 GMT

As I mentioned during the game, I do feel slightly dirty after flying this fleet. It didn't feel like Star Wars. More like.....the Dukes of Hazzard meet Ben Hur.
A highly entertaining game against the most awesome of opponents! Nicely done sir!

Six days to complete your games, gentlemen - the round ends on Wednesday 20th July 0001 GMT.

Me and Deadshane started our game, but we planned to finish it on my wednesday night, again neglecting the deadline.
We're trying to find a time to finish the game earlier, but RL keeps getting in the way and it doesn't look we're gonna have an easy time anticipating it: I'm here to ask if the deadline, just for us, just for the remainder of our game, can be postponed to wednesday night to avoid second 5-5 in a row.
As it happens, RL is likely going to keep me from compiling results on Wednesday. As such:
Round two ends on Thursday 21st July 0001 GMT!
OP updated to reflect this.
I've also extended the deadline for submitting new fleet builds for rounds three and four. ![]()
JJs vs Matt Antillies went 285 - 301 for a 5-5 16 MoV win for Matt Antillies. Objective was Most Wanted and I was second player. I lost Gallant Haven, my Admonition, a Most Wanted Bright Hope, my 2 A-wings, and Jan. In return I killed 4 A-wings, a TRC90, and a Most Wanted Admonition. Good game to Matt, some crazy stuff happened that game. I'll post the vlog in the other thread when I get a chance.

Great game, JJ. I'm still kicking myself for arcing Admonition back into the fight and getting it killed instead of riding off into the sunset when I had the chance ![]()
7 hours until miferr vs Lyraeus. Come watch Dodonna the Oppressor lose a other game with style! ![]()
I am coming for fun don't even care about a win! Tis going to be a great game i think.
Miferr vs Lyraeus is scheduled to start in 20 minutes.
Playing now! Come watch the Freddie Legion combat Dodonna!
Game is on hold! So glad it's been a great one, both players have lost 2 ships a piece. We hope to pick it back up later today
We finished up today. 408 for me and 203 for miferr.
I made a stupid mistake with Dodonna on T5 that flew him off the board. I did not zoom out so I did not realize that he was that close.
miferr was a great opponent, he boosted into my Admonition's range on T2 and the plan would have worked had I not had the dice gods favor with me today. By the end of Turn 3 I had reduced that Advanced Projector MC80 Home One to scrap. It would have gone down with less trouble I think if I had selected Comm Noise instead of Blinded Gunners.

Always think that Comm Noise is the worst, surprised you wouldn't have chosen that by default.

Speaking as another Dodonna/APT player, it really depends on the larger situation. When the situation calls for it, Comm Noise can be the most devastating crit in the game. The same can be said for Projector Misaligned, Shield Failure, Capacitor Failure, Depowered Armaments, Injured Crew, Structural Damage, Blinded Gunners, Thrust Control Malfunction, Damaged Munitions... Almost everything can have a huge impact if it comes up at just the right time.
I wasn't watching the game, but if the MC80 wasn't at speed 1, or was going to get a nav command before Lyr got a fellow up shot, and wasn't pushing squadrons, or threatened an MC30 that Lyr was counting on to finish it off... Any of those situations, a good argument could be made for taking BG over CN.

It was Blinded Gunners and while I knew he was going to have a Repair Command something just did not click in my head I guess.
emfrank72 vs Vipcard3. I got 131 vs Vipcard3's 45 for a 7 to 3 win with a 86 MOV. Minefields was the objective.
I was able to maneuver a couple of CR90s to the rear of his flag Assault Frigate and take it out on round 4. I took out Tycho and he got one of my B's. My squads were mostly useless but they did help weaken his flagship. Three of my B-wings spent the whole game on a pleasure cruise and were useless. One of my GR-75s succumbed to a mine at the last part of round 6. I managed to stumble into 4 of them during the encounter.
I'd like to thank Vipcard3 for a good game and being gracious enough to let me use a Navigate command that I had forgot about until after my move. He didn't have to but was very patient and forgiving of a fairly new player. That decision made the difference between a 7 and 3 win for me or a 6 to 4 win for me.
Now it is time to think about what to bring for round 3. So many possibilities.....
Hi guys! Getting close to the end of the round - how we travellin'? ![]()
Irokenics has unfortunately had to pull out due to limited availability over the next few weeks, and a few other players have messaged me advising their opponents haven't responded to attempts at contact. If you're in a similar boat, please contact me so I can sort things out before round's end.
An important thing to note is that if you have to forfeit this round for whatever reason, that doesn't mean you can't still participate in future rounds. If, however, you feel that you are unlikely to be able to play in the coming weeks, please let me know - it just makes things easier for everyone in the tournament, and we can keep things running smoothly.
Thank you, everyone, for your continued cooperation and enthusiasm. Can't wait for the second half of this tournament, and to see all the new toys in action. ![]()
The battle about true Rieekanness has come to an end!
Aresius and me managed to find finally a time slot we both were able to play.
Aresius vs. Darth Veggie ended in a 6-4 victory for Aresius (236 to 187; MOV 49).
It was a squadron's bloodbath: 18 squads were on the table. Merely 2 survived the butchering: Aresius' Dutch and my Luke.
Aresius was second player and I picked Hyperspace Assault. The first time I was first player in this mission and the first time I could see how the second player actually benefits from it. Well played, Aresius!
And to be honest, 6-4 seems that Aresius is merely a bit the better Rieekan than me. However, the dice were ridiculously on my side. Without that it would have been a 7-3 or even an 8-2 in his favor.
Thanks to Aresius for the game!
P.S.: Game log will be online later today.

Congrats to Lyraeus on a great game! I definitely took a big risk doing an Engine Techs to get Home One into black range of Admonition. I didn't think about Admonition making the turn to ram while putting a double arc on Home One, but Lyr made that move and I knew HO was in trouble.
I was quite surprised when Dodonna's ship revealed a concentrate fire instead of a nav, sending him off the board, but by that point my loss was already certain.
My biggest disappointment was that Madine didn't actually do anything. I waiting to make a big turn to send the whole fleet in an unexpected direction, but the opportunity never happened. I'm not sure I made a single turn that I couldn't have made without Madine!
Just completed a great game with Lord Preyer! Unfortunately, my poor Imperial fleet was tabled by his Imperial fleet with IG-88 being the lone survivor. It's late for me and incredibly late for him but he'll do a more thorough write up. Thanks for the fun game Lord Preyer!!!
Roquax v PartyPotato
Roquax wins 6-4 MOV=63pts
Update:
275pts vs 212pts

I look forward to seeing this vlog. It seems to be often considered one of the weakest objectives, but while I use HA myself and know how I use it, it will be really interesting to see someone else's success with it.
thanks!
