Perhaps Anakin in his early years, Luke is quite the Artisan I guess, and now in his later years he hides his ability well... I guess it's to help sales; "Hey look here, Luke is on the cover, I wonder what this is?"
Endless Vigil A Sourcebook for Sentinels!!!
I guess Miraluka is probably too much to hope for. I'd guess they're either in the sage or mystic source book. Sigh
I shall keep re-skinning humans I guess.
Though Zeltron Face could be fun.
- Species -- why have they been so coy about what the species will be lately? Too much negative backlash, probably.
Any 'backlash' is for good reason.
The species for 'Special Modifications' was FFG trolling its own fanbase.
Matter of personal preference. I know several were receptive to Besalisk and Dug. I want to know what they're being secretive, because I want to know what to look forward to.
And now we likely won't know until the 'now shipping' article is published
poop.
I didn't see anyone mention it but I do like the name a lot, all the books have great names, but this one has a nice ring to it.
Luke is more Guardian then anything else. Although in Force Awakens it seems he picked up Hermit.
Miraluka actually do fit the book since we all know justice is blind...
We have also gotten them in art in other books...
Anakin would probably have Racer....
I was hoping for Sentinel or Consular next. Oh yeah...
All the F&D books include species from the Jedi High Council and species from prominent Jedi Masters in Legends so...
It's great seeing Luke on the cover. I could see him starting Artisan. Or the new Racer - depending on what it looks like.
I think this makes him the only named character on the cover of a non-Core book
It's a nice thought, Phee, but I'm not holding my breath
(Although quite honestly, if they fit anywhere, they'd fit here. )
Plus she's wearing far too many clothes to be a Zeltron
That's just to throw you of the trail
!
I'm hoping for Miraluka myself.
You're new here, right?
That's my take too, unfortunately (Although we did get Falleen in 'Fly Casual'. Maybe that was before the Disney edict to pretend the EU never existed and Star Wars began in 2008)
Which pretty much dooms us to Chalmun's Cantina & Jabba's Palace species, most of which were designed only as scenery to let Luke know that he wasn't in Kansas any more.
All the more irritating that they've included Arkanians and Pantorans in the adventures. There was even a Pantoran in the art for the Savage Species teaser, which is why it's likely they won't be in this book either, despite teasing us with a picture again.
Both Fallen and Pantorans are canon because they appear in The Clone Wars. There are still a fair number of species from there we haven't seen yet, so there's some hope. And at least one of them is pretty! The crazy-hair species that the sister Jedi Masters belong to at the beginning of Season 6.
And WTF with a canon character on the cover? Maybe 'Skywalkers' are now their own separate species like they were in the WEG version
They pretty much are!
Human, Skywalker
Brawn 2,Agility 2, Intellect 2, Cunning 2, Willpower 3, Presence 2
Wound Threshold 20 + Brawn ; Strain Threshold 20 + Willpower
Starting XP: 150
Special Abilities: Gain one rank in any 2 non-career skills. These skills may be raised above 2 at character creation.
Strong in the Force: Start with a Force Rating of 2.
Plot Armor: Once per session, when you would die, you don't die.
There, see? I think they're perfectly balanced

The bit about the custom and discreet lightsabers looks very interesting. The Shadow in our campaign doesn't have a lightsaber and mainly punches people (though has been angling for lightsaber knucklers for a while) so it's a shame this will come out after we wrap it all up.
I just find it amusing you can basically use Investigator/Sentry to have Force-Sensitive Batman.

Investigator will likely borrow from Marshal.
Racer will be 'Force-sensitive Driver' most likely.
Sentry seems to be the Sentinel version of Warden. All the F&D careers seem to have a specific 'dark side hero' spec thus far.
I wonder if one of these will have the Lightsaber skill? I was hoping for a Sentinel version of Armourer personally.

Mikkians. I would be pretty okay to see them in one of the books.

My own addition
Edited by Jedi RoninFemale Devronians are covered in fur from the neck down. And, they have been included in the new cannon
m
Tell that to writer and editor of the Devaronian species write up in Nexus of Power. The artwork for the race is of a female with that is hairless

You need Shadow and Racer as well.
How does one go about asking the devs a question? A confirmation about whether there is or is not a new Force power is something I'd really like to know, because that kind of asymmetry really, REALLY bugs me.
Yeah, they'll probably just say that they can't say, but if you don't ask you never know. Maybe they'll say outright, "No new Force Power in this one," and I can take the next four months coming to terms with that, instead of holding out hope until the book arrives and then being bitterly abhorred when there isn't one...

Edited by 2P51If we ever get Miraluka my money is on them being in the Consular or Mystic career book,
My thoughts as I read the article:
- Sentinel book. YES! I honestly expected it to be the Bounty Hunter book of Force and Destiny, dead last, so this is huge for me (since they're my favorite career from F&D).
- "Still, even in these oppressive, urban environments, there are some who dedicate themselves to fighting back from the shadows. These Sentinels are the last bastions of hope in these desperate cities, and theirs is often a thankless vigil." - I'M BATMAN!
- "... podracing..." Podracing? PODRACING? Why, I oughta... wait. I'm actually cool with podracing.
- Investigators. Alright, cool. We needed a Wizard Cop. In fact, we needed a solid investigation-based specialization for Force users, and this looks like it could be it.
- Racer. As in podracer. Eh... I can see it. As others have mentioned, car chase scenes are a staple of cop movies and other urban adventures. (And Fenrir423? The Force and the Furious sounds awesome.)
- Sentry. So like Warden but... more sneaky?
- The signature powers look interesting, and I'm curious as to how they work. The second one, Unmatched Foresight, sounds an awful lot like Spidey-senses.
- "... weapons that may be better suited to the environment than the lightsaber." More blasters? Melee weapons? Brawl weapons (likely!)?
- Concealable gear (and more armor/clothing used for concealing things) is always welcome.
- Urban campaigns! I love Star Wars' city worlds (like Coruscant). Here's hoping for tons of relevant advice.
- Charts! I adore charts!
- Rules for investigation and complications with local law enforcement. Huh. This could prove very useful. *wicked laughter*
All in all, looks solid.
And while I think people are right about FFG sticking with canon species, I'm with those who would love to see Miraluka made a playable race. I know it's not going to happen, but one can dream, right? *chuckles* Normally I would have suggested Kel'dor for the book, but since they're already in the F&D core, they won't be here. So what species should we expect? I don't know. That white haired fellow looks like he could be either Chiss or Pantoran, but he's lacking the usual gold markings for the latter so I'm leaning toward Chiss. (Then again, he's not the deep blue usually reserved for Chiss, so who knows for sure?) I'm not really invested in what other species they choose.
I am with previous posters that the red woman looks like she has the horn stubs of a female Devaronian, though I would have preferred to see Zeltrons here. Maybe Shi'ido, as some have suggested, would be appropriate, due to their ability to shapeshift and blend in, but Clawdite seems just as likely. Also... maybe it will draw from known sources, and we'll see Cosian as a playable species, echoing the aged Jedi investigator Tera Sinube from Clone Wars.
All in all, I'm pretty excited about this release.
I am excited to see any new support for Force and Destiny, because it's my chosen rulebook for the FFG products.
Endless Vigil should be a stark contrast to Savage Spirits: urban vs nature.
For Force-users, the Starfighter Ace seems the most pilot-oriented career. Guardians offer pieces of other piloting, while other careers offer smatterings of that puzzle, with things like Astrogation and Mechanics. However, using JUST F+D rules, without any other product title crossover, I do not see a dedicated planetary piloting career; podracing seems like it may be it, and is quite different than other piloting careers in other product lines. Am I missing something? YES- one could always dump lots of skills into a career, select a piloting-specific species, etc., but I do not think piloting-planetary is a core career thus represented in F+D...yet.
Seeing Luke Skywalker on the cover of a Sentinel book disappoints me. Maybe the art director was sick and faced a deadline. Unique art with a nod (not a neon sign pointing) to nostalgia is nice, and one of the strongest bits of fluff FFG offer its book readers. However, I will not judge a book by its cover.

Starfighter Ace is perfectly functional when using Piloting (Planetary), as Full Throttle, Intuitive Evasion, Intuitive Strike, Skilled Jockey and Tricky Target all work with both skills. It's just it doesn't have Piloting (Planetary) as a skill, so a character would have to invest in that somehow.
A Navigator/Starfighter Ace is a pretty functional Piloting (Planetary) build.
Regarding species in supplemental products.
If we assume each one of three core rulebooks offers six unique species to its product line (i.e.: We've seen Rodians in Edge of Empire, but not in Force and Destiny, so I consider that example fair game.), I submit that we will not see repeats within the same product line. For example, I do not expect to see "Zabrak" in Endless Vigil, but they could pop up in any Edge of the Empire or Age of Rebellion books. We have seen a strong species whose book-crunch seems to align with at least one new career.
Regarding Fixed Species.
With any confidence, tell me that printing Lanniks TWICE suggests careful planning. I believe the species was initially flawed, or somehow abused in the rules as written, or deemed too weak. In any outcome, their inclusion in Keeping the Peace was a serious surprise. However, I like the changes to the species, and expect more highly-playable species to get edits in future books. This idea could help explain away any remaining confusion about female Devaronians, for example. I think FFG is trying to do this editing already, with Lanniks and Corellian Humans as examples.
Regarding Balance within the Force.
If every Force-user sourcebook has a new Force Power AND new lightsabers, AND new fluff or crunch available for other non-Force-users, why NOT be a Force-user all of the time? I agree with the general sentiment: the Bounty Hunter sourcebook has taken FAR too long. At this point, I expect it to be the capstone of career sourcebooks. There may not be easy reciprocity between Force-user specific material and non-Force Users' stuff. This said, please stop using holocrons as plot-saving devices. The newest Force Power from the adventure was sub-par; save 'em for a wider career base choice, and please STOP naming the Force Power after its 'inventor;' else, we could have an entire "Skywalker" Force Power rulebook.
Regarding Batman comparisons.
Who doesn't like Batman in general? Sure, jury is out on cinematic reinterpretations, but the myth survives and is retold for each new generation. FFG, holding hands with Disney to use its IP, must certainly know this marketing trick. Perception is reality, and nods to Spidey-sense and other troupes are not only familiar, but effectively demonstrated uses in comics, movies, etc. elsewhere. "How does this new Force Power work?" 'It's like how So-and-So did that Cool Thing in that comic.'
Yeah, in spite of the name, a Starfighter Ace can make for a pretty solid Piloting:Planetary-focused character. Though I suspect Racer will be to Starfighter Ace as Driver is to Pilot, though I am hoping for Racer to borrow a bit more from Stay on Target's Hotshot (which is a really awesome spec in and of itself IMHO).
I'm kind of picturing a Force-sensitive Sherlock Holmes for the Investigator, though Maelora's may be on to something with it being a F/S version of the Marshal (from Far Horizons). I do see Sentry being more or less Space!Batman, though possibly borrowing more from the cinematic version of Batman, whose investigative skills are often a secondary element if utilized at all in favor of him being an urban ninja (perhaps literally for the Nolan version).
A Navigator/Starfighter Ace is a pretty functional Piloting (Planetary) build.
I contend that mashing two or more careers can "Voltron" whatever someone wants to play. More importantly, can my character do their specific build well without dropping XP into another career? Navigator/Starfighter Ace is awesome, but I don't expect it will look anything like Racer in the new book. If it did, why take it?
Any character CAN be really, really good at something. It's important to save XP, and if I can find a single career that accomplishes what two or more together can do, I'll strongly consider it.
That's my take too, unfortunately (Although we did get Falleen in 'Fly Casual'. Maybe that was before the Disney edict to pretend the EU never existed and Star Wars began in 2008)
At what point has Disney "pretended the EU never existed"?
I must have missed that occurring in between all the novel and comic reprints that are keeping the Legends continuity on store shelves for new fans...
